Scanning means “to look carefully or to examine”.
The term environmental scanning in business means
“Carefully analyze the various factors influencing the
business ”
The process by which organizations monitors their
environment to identify opportunities and threats
affecting their business, is known as environmental
scanning.
Environmental Scanning is a process by which
Strategist monitor the environmental factors to
determine opportunities threat to their firms.
Environmental Scanning also consist of managerial
decision made by accessing the significance of data of
the Environmental analysis.
Environmental scanning is the process of
continually acquiring information on events
occurring outside the organization to identify and
interpret potential trends.
Environmental scanning is a process of
gathering, analyzing, and dispensing information
for tactical or strategic purposes. The
environmental scanning process entails obtaining
both factual and subjective information on the
business environments in which a company is
operating or consider entering.

to help management determine the future
direction of the organization.

information. With the help of relevant

strategy through which our missions and
objectives of success will be achieved.
2. Monitoring After collecting relevant

It is a follow up process after scanning.

used for environmental analysis. WE can use
analysing tools such as correlation, regression,
multiregression, factor etc.

technique of finding future possibilities based

growth. Forecasting is necessary to predict
about future event before any strategic plans
are formulated. Forecasting is made for
