Kick

This document contains a kick tolerance calculator for determining the safe mud weight window while drilling. It includes inputs for well data, drilling parameters, the drill string, and the formation. The output provides the formation strength, maximum pressures, influx gradients, and annular capacities. It then calculates the operator's kick tolerance for a range of mud weights and alerts the required level of approval if the tolerance is exceeded.

Note:
If the KT for a swabbeb kick is required, the value of Pf should be taken as the value of the mud hydrostatic in use,
pressure of the swabbed in gas bubble is = the hydrostatic of the mud column.
This methodology gives a higher KT since no kick intensity is incorporated & should not be confused when dealing
with KT calculations.

Note:
Dave Cameron
The operators calculation for Kick Tolerance uses the estimated
pore pressure at section TD to calculate Pf, where as our KT
formulae uses mud weight plus kick intensity to calculate Pf.

Therefore operators methodology gives a higher KT since

prognosed pore pressure is used to calculte the Pf.
