TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES
1. Pupils look at the word “holiday” on the board and work in pairs to discuss the best possible type of holidau

2. Pupils discuss their ideas as a class.
3. Pupils turn to Pulse 2 page 102 and read Johnny’s instant message and Tilda’s reply.
4. Pupils discuss in pairs whether they agree with Tilda’s advice.
5. Pupils then discuss as a class.
6. Pupils read the information in the Writing focus box.
7. Pupils identify 4 different tenses in Johnny and Tilda’s instant messages.
8. Pupils compare answers in pairs before checking answers as a class.
LESSON 9. Pupils go on to Activity 3 and read the instructions.
DEVELOPMENT 10. Pupils complete 6 sentences using the correct tense of the verb in brackets.
11. Pupils write an instant message to a friend, but pupils have to write a draft of about 50 words first.
12. Pupils create a draft by making notes for the main paragraph of their instant message and give an example of a
similar situation and say what happened and lastly, advise Jenny on what she should do.
13. Pupils exchange their drafts with a partner for peer feedback.
14. Pupils write their instant message in about 100 words using the draft and the example instant messages
between Johnny and Tilda.
POST-LESSON 15. A few pairs read aloud their instant messages to the class.
