Exercise 1: determine the cable tensions in the following figures

Exercise 2

A homogeneous bar weighing 80N is linked by a cylindrical joint at its end A to a wall. It is held
at an angle of 60o with the vertical by an inextensible cable of negligible mass at the other end B.
the cable makes an angle of 30o with the bar. Determine the tension in the cable and the reaction at
point A.

Exercise 3

A beam is maintained in static equilibrium by means of a load P suspended from a cable

inextensible of negligible mass, passing through a pulley as shown in the figure. The beam has a
length of 8m and a mass of 50kg and makes an angle of 45o with the horizontal and 30o with the
cable. Determine the tension in the cable as well as the size of the reaction in A as well as its
direction relative to the horizontal.
