ITIS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR TO
ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE PATIENT WHILE THE X-RAY
EQUIPMENT IS IN OPERATION BY VISUAL OBSERVATION,
PROPER PATIENT POSITIONING, AND USE OF THE DEVICES,
THAT ARE INTENDED TO PREVENT PATIENT INJURY.
LISTEM Corporation 92.4Maximum Permissible Dose (MPD)
For occupational exposures, the ICRP recommends thatthe MPD accumulated shall nt exceed
ofthe fllowing limits
D Annual effective dose somsv
Annual dose forthe lens ofthe eye 150 msv
Annual dose for al other areas: +500 mSv
(Le. red bone marrow, breast, lung , gonads, skin, and extremities)
2.5 Radiation protection
Because exposure to X-ay radiation may be damaging to health, use great care to
provide protection against exposure tothe primary beam. Some ofthe effects of X-ay radiation
‘are cumulative and may extend over a period of months or years,
“The beat safety rule for X-ray operator is" AvoId exposure tothe primary beam at all times".
‘Secondary radiation may be of greater intensity than that of the radiation reaching the fim. Take
protective measures to safeguard against it.
‘An effective protective measure is the use of lead shielding. To minimize dangerous
‘exposure, use such items as lead screens, lead impregnated gloves, aprons, thyroid
collars, ete. The lead soreen shall contain @ minimum ot 2.0 mm of lead or equivalent and
personal protective devices (aprons, gloves, etc) must contain a minimum of 0.25mm_ of lead
fr equivalent. For confirmation ofthe local requirements at your site, please refer to your local
radiation protection rules.
WHILE OPERATING OR SERVICING X-RAY EQUIPMENT, DO
WARNING NOT EXPOSE HANDS, WRISTS, ARMS OR OTHER PARTS OF
‘THE BODY TO THE PRIMARY BEAM,
LISTEM Corporation 102.6 Monitoring of personnel
‘The most effective method to determine whether or not the existing protective measures are
adequate is the use of equipment to measure the exposure. These measurements shall be taken at
all locations where the operator or any portion of this body may be exposed. Exposure must never
‘exceed the accepted tolerable dose of ICRP.
We recommand the use of personal radiation dosimeters to determine whether personnel
have been exposed to excessive radiation.
Please moritoring of personnel continuously for safety of
AX CAUTION —Pertorand sate use
2.7 Protection against electric shock hazard
“This high frequency X-ray system has been classiied as equipment of type-B (7 ) in accordance
with 1EC-601.1 and |EC-801.2.7 Standards.
“This classifiation has been established according to the degree and quality of protection against
electric shocks which is dascribed in terms ofthe maximum allowable leakage Current.
“Type-B equipment is suitable for applications involving external or internal contact withthe patient,
‘excluding the heart

BUCKY 4
~ Selecting Bucky 1 by pressing this button.
+ If the thickness of a subject become thick, it causes loss of
the image due to the effect of the scattering line from the
subject Therefore, when you take X-ray, you should select
BUCKY 1 to prevent image quality from contrast loss by
scattering lin.
You should use this button when you take X-ray a subject on
the table and should take X-ray after inserting a cassette into
the cassette tray, This goes out of sight the grid line which
makes the observance of a region diffcult by the grid moving
When you take X-ray. Also this enhances the contrast of a
Image quality by limiting scattering line effectively.
BUCKY 2

When you take a X-ray standing, you should use this with using
Wall Bucky.
~ This is used for mainly hest photographing, abdomen
Photographing, PNS photographing, etc, and enhances the
Contrast of image quality by limiting effectively the scattering line
from a subject.

4.5 AEC operation
4.5.1 Introduction
‘AEC makes regular strength ofthe fim by controling the exposed time,
Ituses the lonchamber as the sensor to measure the amount of Xray. And ifthe amount of incident
X-ray come to the set radiation amount, the exposure is stopped
4.5.2 Minimum response time & maximum exposure time
MRT is the minimum time to operate the system and MET is long exposure time as possible to finish
2 irradiation,
Even though you set the exposure time very shorty, the AEC function of the REX-RF Series doesn't
make the excessive strength pictures regardless of MRT. And you can protect a patient from the
excessive exposure, even though there is any problem in AEC equipment, as the MET is designed
‘not to excess 600mAs per irradiation,
4.5.3 Intensifying screen & Film selection
Its necessary to control AEC system according to the collation of FilrvScreen,
REX-RF Series is controlled on the strength with the standard of the rare earth type intensifying
sscreeniortho type, and it should be set the strength compensation value of AEC dlferently according,
to the intensifying screen and used fim. This process should be cartied out inthe factory, andit can
‘be controlled sutably by the customer's ask.
4.5.4 Suggestions for using AEC
~ Adjust perfectly pose ofa patient o central beam,
- Use the AEC only when you use the grid
Its basic to select the suitable sensor in taking a X-ray wth AEC.
~ Adjust the terminal of strength control to "0" fr the normal patients, and control the terminal only for
the extremely different figures or pathological situation.

4.6 ABC operation
4.6.1 Introduction
‘Automatic Brightness Control(ABC) always makes a regular image on the monitor by controling the
ftuoroscopie tube-voltage or fluofoscopic tube-current according to the X-ray absorption of a
subject
REX-RIF quickly copes with reaction speed of the monitor brightness according tothe change of a
‘subject by controling simultaneously the fluoroscopic tube-voltage and fluoroscopic tube-current,
