Detailed Lesson Plan in Math 3 Symmetry

The lesson plan aims to teach students about symmetry within 60 minutes. Students will identify lines of symmetry in shapes and real-world examples, appreciate the importance of symmetry, work cooperatively in groups, and complete symmetrical objects. The lesson involves preliminary activities, subject matter instruction on symmetry using materials like pictures and PowerPoint, and an evaluation with knowledge, process, understanding, and product questions.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Math 3

I. Objectives
Within the 60-minute period, the pupils should be able to:
a. identify symmetry and line of symmetry in a given shape and real world
examples;
b. show appreciation on the importance of symmetry;
c. demonstrate cooperation in doing the group work activity;
d. complete the missing half of a symmetrical object by applying their
understanding of symmetry.

II. Subject Matter

Very good, class. Continue that kind of

attitude. (students will clap their hands)
Evaluation
(Knowledge) Read the sentences and answer what is asked. Choose from the box the
correct answer and write on the space before the number.

other half.
__________________2. An imaginary line that divides a figure into two matching
sides.
__________________3. Is an example of symmetry.

Symmetry Vertical Symmetry

Line of Symmetry Butterfly

(Process) Draw a smiley face on the blank if the lines indicate the line of symmetry,
and sad face if not.

_______4. _______7.
