Background

The issues:

Omuto Foundation is aiming to address the issues of poverty, educational access, and health
care within the Mpigi community. The Youth Ambassadors Program is focused on providing
resources, education, and skills to help the youth of Mpigi become self-sufficient and
successful. Through this program, the youth are able to gain access to quality education, gain
skills and knowledge to find employment, and receive access to health care services. Moreover,
the Program is helping to empower the youth to become more engaged in the community and
to take on leadership roles. Ultimately, the Youth Ambassadors Program in Mpigi, Uganda is
helping to reduce poverty, improve educational access, and improve health care services for the
youth of Mpigi.

The statistics of crime, inequality and violence in Mpigi, Uganda are sobering. According to
the recent reports, the district has the second highest crime rates in the country, with reports
of theft, assault, rape, and murder all too common. Inequality is also rampant, with the most
vulnerable members of society facing immense challenges in accessing basic services and
resources. Violence is also a major issue, with reports of domestic violence, child abuse, and
gender-based violence occurring at an alarming rate.

In recognition of this, Omuto Foundation has launched a youth ambassadors program to

create a platform for young people to represent their community and be a voice for their peers.

The solution:

The Youth Ambassadors Program was created to address these issues and bring positive
change to the region. Through a variety of community-based initiatives, the program seeks to
empower young people to become active agents of social change. Through education,
advocacy and community engagement, the program aims to promote a culture of peace and
tolerance, while also raising awareness of the issues facing the region. The program also
encourages youth to participate in democracy and community development initiatives, and
provides resources and support to help them do so. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to
create a more peaceful and prosperous future for Mpigi.
The Youth Ambassadors Program in Mpigi District, Uganda is a collaborative effort between
Omuto Foundation and local communities to empower young people and promote their
development. This program provides an opportunity for young people to become role models
in their communities and to influence positive change. Through this program, Omuto provides
mentorship and leadership training to young people in the district in order to support them in
their development and growth. The program also works to increase access to education,
health care, and employment opportunities for the youth of Mpigi district.

Statistics:

The Mpigi district in Uganda is home to a vibrant, diverse and ever-growing population of
young people. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Mpigi District has a population of
approximately 282,824 people. Of this population, 47.5% are children and young people aged
0-24. The district also has a high rate of youth unemployment, with only 10.3% of young
people aged 15-24 currently in employment. Moreover, the program will also led to a
decrease in crime and violence in the region and limit youth mobility as local resources and
opportunities will emerge.

Statistics from the district show that nearly 60% of its population are under the age of 24 and
over half of the people living in the district are under the age of 15. In light of this, the youth
ambassadors program is particularly important as it provides a platform for young people to
have their voices heard and to be included in decision-making processes.

Efforts:

The program seeks to engage and empower young people between the ages of 15-25 in the
district by providing them with a platform to share their ideas, experiences and perspectives on
issues impacting them and their community. Through the program, youth ambassadors will be
able to have their voices heard, participate in decision-making processes and develop their
leadership skills. The program also seeks to build capacity among young people by providing
them with training and mentoring opportunities. This will further help to create a more
engaged and informed community of young people who can contribute to the development of
their district.

Omuto Foundation has been working in Mpigi District to address the issues facing young
people. Through the Youth Ambassadors Program, young people will be given the opportunity
to become agents of change in their communities. This program will provide a platform for
young people to identify challenges and advocate for solutions. It will also create
opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, gain work experience, and build
their confidence.

Omuto Foundation is committed to supporting young people in Mpigi District and to creating
a brighter future for them. Through the Youth Ambassadors Program, young people will have
the chance to become empowered and active citizens.
