a something to tell I want you to raise your right
hand first.
Is it clear?
Very clear teacher
Good job! Let us now proceed

Share your ideas with your groups.
Stay focused on task.
Talk softly not to disturb other groups.
Raise your hand if you have questions.
Let the pupils perform the activity.
Activity 1: “How will I dispose Waste

1. Go to your assigned station.
2. Identify the kind of materials in your
station.
3. List the materials in your science
notebook.
4. Group the waste materials according to
the following properties:
biodegradable, non-biodegradable,
recyclable, and/or combustible.
5. Use the sacks in your station to place
the waste materials.
6. In your science notebook, list the steps
to be followed in disposing the
materials in your assigned station.

and non- biodegradable.
Recycle some of the non-
biodegradable materials.
▫ BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS are
materials which decay such as leaves,
paper and twigs.
▫ NON-BIODEGRADABLE are materials or
substance that do not.
▫ RECYCLE some of the non-
biodegradable materials.
▫ Make a compost out of decaying
materials.
▫ Compost are waste materials that are
recycled as fertilizer.
ELABORATE
1. What waste materials are found in your
station? Hospital

School
2. What are the properties of each of the
waste materials? Some materials undergo decay, some
are made of plastics.
3. Were all the materials disposable? Some materials are disposable are not.
4. How did you dispose the waste
materials? We group them first according to their
properties.
5. Where did you place the materials that
undergo decay? We put them in a separate container.
6. What did you do with the materials
that undergo decay? Make a compost
7. What did you do with the materials
made of plastic, metals and other non-
decaying materials. Materials made of plastic were placed
in a sack; used batteries an bulbs were
placed in a box.
8. Are there waste materials that can be
reused? Yes
