MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF TEACHERS

Our mental health impacts our physical health and overall well-being. Someone struggling
with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, an eating disorder or addiction can find it
difficult to maintain focus, find motivation for tasks and relate to peers and colleagues. The
effects of mental health on our mood and ability to function throughout the day can impact all
aspects of our lives. Good mental health is just as important for teachers and students as it is for
the rest of the population.
On January 28, 2022, Lac Session No.2 was conducted on the topic of Mental Health and
Well-being of Teachers. Ms. Edselyn L. Salido, RN was the speaker of the online session. The
program started with an Opening Prayer followed by an Opening remark, an icebreaker, and the
session proper. In her discussion, she includes the topic of how to manage gender sensitivity
concerns during the pandemic and also on how to manage stress, and also with techniques for
preventing stress.
Indeed, the said activity was properly done. Teacher participants were able to gain
knowledge that they may apply in their daily lives.

SCHOOL-BASED MANAGEMENT

School-Based Management is the strategy to improve education by transferring

significant decision-making authority from state to district to individual schools. School-based

management provides principals, teachers, students, and parents control over the education

process by giving them the responsibility for the decision about the programs/projects. SBM can

create a learning environment for the students.

Ms. Jessa Mie G. Lacar, a Kindergarten adviser discussed School-based Management

during the LAC Session NO. 6. The program started with an Opening prayer conducted by Ms.

Hazel Jane J. Batalla, Grade 1 Adviser followed by the national anthem by Roger E. Pagupat.

Part of the program was the ice breaker to help teachers be engaged and active during the

discussion. After the discussion proper was the giving of certificates to the speakers and the

participants. The program was closed by Ms. Jovelyn S. Yuag, grade 10 adviser.
