THE SMALL BOAT BOOK

Originally The Dinghy Book

• Rinky Dink: a useful little seven foot overall pram to carry three – for the man who
uses a small cruising yacht, power or sail.
• Handy Andy: an eight foot, round bilge sailing dinghy – the forerunner of the fa-
mous Penn Yann dink. By actual test she is capable of carrying four full grown
men, three being a comfortable load. The canvas covered construction indicated has
proven successful in thousands of canoes.
• Carry Me: a nine foot flat bottom rowing dinghy built in a traditional manner.
• Sally Ann: a useful 7 feet 11 inch overall flat bottom pram. A single plank on each
side and planked athwartship on her bottom. She could be built of waterproof ma-
rine plywood.
• Takapart: a 10 foot folding punt for the man who wants a light weight and easily
stowed little craft. The hull is made up of three separate sections which can be
stowed within one another.
• Anabelle: a substantial small flat bottom skiff 10 feet overall by 3 feet 6 inches
beam. There is more than the usual amount of flare in her topsides, which spells
reserve stability. Easily rowed or a fast craft with a modest outboard motor.
• Nymph: a 10 foot flat bottom sailing skiff with a 54 sq. ft. jib head cat rig.
• Dancer: a 12 foot dink. An attractive and easily built tender which will prove ideal
for the average cruising yacht.
• Scandal: an outboard powered skiff – easily built and will travel very fast with a
light weight engine – 14 feet 7 inches overall by 3 feet 9 inches beam and she draws
5 in.
• Pixie: an able Vee bottom row boat — suitable for an all purpose tender and suit-
able for outboard power. 14 feet overall by 4 feet beam and a draft of 7 inches.

Every design is complete, with all

the drawings reproduced accurately,
complete with offsets, building in-
structions and valuable hints on the
construction of each boat.
