Capstone Update 1

The student has begun planning their cookbook capstone project by brainstorming recipe ideas to include and making a few dishes with their mother. This week, they plan to create an outline for the cookbook and finalize the recipes. They will need use of a kitchen and guidance from their mother, as the only mentor, to complete the Ghanaian recipes. Their challenges so far have been finding time outside of school to cook and coordinating schedules with their mother, but they are working to set aside time to progress on the project.

Capstone Update #1

What I have accomplished so far (if nothing – WHY??)

So far, for capstone I have an idea of what I want to do, I also I have a plan of what recipes I will put into
my cookbook. I have made a few dishes with my mother.

What I plan to accomplish by the end of the week

I plan to make a rough outline of what the cookbook will look like and the recipes I plan to put in the
cookbook. For the recipes I plan on making lunch, breakfast, and appetizers. For ex. Jollof rice, peanut
soup, okra stew etc.

My needs (materials, time, space, mentor etc.)

I am not sure what materials I need for this project. Although I do know that I need a kitchen and
guidance from my mother to help me with these recipes.

How I have interacted with my mentor recently and what I still need to do

I do not have a mentor I was planning on asking my mom to help me since she is the only person, I know
that can especially since the dishes I am doing are Ghanaian.

Challenges I encountered and how I have overcome them

Finding time outside school to work on the project, especially when it comes to cooking the food. Also
finding time that works for both me and my mentor. finding time to work on the project and asking my
mom when she is free to help me.
