What is an Appointment Letter?

It is an official document given out by the company to the candidate who has been selected for the job.

The letter confirms that a particular candidate has been appointed for the job. The letter of appointment
is sent after the candidate has been selected for the job and has accepted the offer letter.

The letter is a fairly detailed document that consists of crucial details such as designation, salary, start
date, etc. It clears everything about the job or any doubts regarding the job that the candidate might
have.

When is the Letter of Appointment Given?

It is given after the selection process is completed. A letter of appointment basically confirms the
appointment of a person to a particular job and the candidate’s acceptance of it.

It is provided by the company after a candidate has been selected and accepted the offer letter.

Importance of an Appointment Letter

It is a really critical official document for both the employer as well as employee.

This contains the complete details of the job role and the company’s expectations of the employee. The
letter contains terms and conditions in detail and acts as an employment contract.

The letter of appointment is signed by both parties and each gets one copy of the letter. The receiver of
the letter needs to go through the letter carefully as it contains all the information regarding the job
such as salary, designation, etc.

Invitation Letter

Invitation Letter is a type of letter written to an organisation or an individual for their participation or
presence in an event or an occasion. The occasion can be official or personal. Invitation letter pertaining
to official requirement is referred as ‘Official Invitation Letter’ and those which address personal
requirement is known as ‘Personal Invitation Letter’. An official invitation letter is written like a formal
letter with certain formats which are required to be followed as an official etiquette. On the other hand
personal invitation letter is written like an informal letter. This is because it doesn’t always follow a
conventional format and one can mould the format as per his choice or requirement. Because of its
nature, an invitation letter is a type of request letter. It also has a persuading tone and is sometimes
referred as persuasive letter especially when the objective is to ensure a 100% attendance of the
anticipated. Invitation letters are an ideal alternative to conventional invitations, especially when you
are not satisfied with the readymade one's and when you want to budget them. Additionally, invitation
letters allow the host to convey additional information that is not shared in traditional invitation cards.
Here, you have the liberty to share memories of past events with close friends and family members.

Two Types of Invitation Letters

Official Invitation Letters – Official Invitation letters are the one's which are written for inviting officials
and certain distinguished people for their participation in various activities. Also referred as Business
Invitation Letters, these follow a formal format with a formal tone. Some of these letters are related to
meetings, interviews, training, conferences, inaugurations etc.

Personal Invitation Letters – Personal Invitation letters are the one’s which are written for inviting
friends, peers, relatives, family members, neighbours etc. for social occasions or events. Also known as
friendly invitation letters, these are written in a mixture of informal format and formal format (wherever
required) with an informal approach. Some of these letters are written for weddings, birthday parties,
anniversaries, baby showers other social occasions and activities
