HACKATHON REPORT

Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad organised ‘Smart Aurangabad Hackathon


2020’, Marathwada’s first ever hackathon. Students identified various problem statements being
faced under different departments of the city. Irrigation, water management, solid waste
management, health care, energy, cyber security, environment safety, and city surveillance
problem statements were provided to students on Hackerearth portal. 30 problem statements
along with one open innovation domain were kept open for students over India.
In the first round of the hackathon, students from across the countries submitted their idea
prototypes in the form of presentations. 950 students participated in the online round, which
began from 25 November, 2020 and ended on 25 December, 2020. Of the 250+ teams which
registered, 30 teams were shortlisted for the offline phase of the hackathon which was held at
the campus from 20 January, 2020 to 23 January, 2020.
Teams arrived at the venue on 20 January, and the offline event began on 21 January, 2020 at
9:00 am. It was a 36 hour non stop coding event, where teams presented their ideas to mentors
and judges. Domain experts and technical experts were invited as mentors for the event. Dr.
Mangesh Panat, Sanveer Chhabda, Hrishikesh Dhande, Rohan Solanke, S. M. Darade, were
invited as mentors who guided students along the path to propose their prototypes for final
pitching.
Amitraj Deshmukh, Jaydeep Kulkarni, Samir Sahu, Hrishikesh Dhande, and Dhananjay
Deshmukh were invited as judges for the event. Their guidance helped students explore more
on the project. Students were marked on their pitching, presentation, innovation and overall
idea. Following were the winners for the event:
Team LMNTRIX(Vikram V, Sisidharan V, Senthil Prabhu K, Rithika B) from Bannari Amman
Institute of Technology, Coimbatore won the hackathon and a cash prize of Rs. 75,000/-. They
proposed an innovative solution to design a low cost IoT based water quality monitoring device.
The solution they proposed is being worked under the Research and Development department
of LivPure Solutions.
Team Kubertechies(Rohit P N, nimish bongade, Pooja Lokesh, Raghav Maheshwari) from MS
Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore were declared the first runner-ups and bagged a
cash prize of Rs. 50,000. The team provided a solution in the healthcare domain which is an
end-to-end dynamic scalable system that recommends doctors medicines and records the
conversation of a patient and a student.
Third runner ups were team Optimus(Shailesh Benade, Rohan Gaikwad, Akshay Suryavanshi,
Sumit Kadam) for Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli. They won a cash prize of Rs.
25,000/-. They proposed a solution to design and implement crop and weed classification using
Deep Learning and Internet of Things.
Along with these prizes, 2 special prizes for teams with innovative solutions were awarded a
cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- each. Team Hack01(Mohit Badwe, Vinal Bagariya, Apoorva
Chaudhari, Palak Davda) from Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai and Team Techno
Sparks(Sneha Shree R J, Sanjay S, Samtha K C, Dhamodharan C) from Bannari Amman
institute of Technology were awarded the prizes.
The event was organised by the Computer Science and Engineering Department by a group of
49 students. Mayur Rahangdale, Gauri Vaidya, and Prabhleen Bindra headed the event. We
would like to thank Dr. VP Kshirsagar, Head of Department, and all the faculty from CSE
Department for their constant guidance and support to make the event a huge success.
