workplaces.
Application
Answer the following questions diligently and honestly:
1. Explain why is it important to you to have knowledge about different gender issues and concerns?
This established gender research and analysis enables us to examine and challenge social norms
around what it means to be a woman or man in society, and to pursue justice and equality for all,
which should be fundamental facets of development.

Community?
Which of The 3 gender Your Explanation with a picture or collage
issues and concern are
observable in the following:
1. In your Home Individuals may experience conflict between their work and home roles
due to limited time, high levels of stress, and competing behavioral
expectations. Although most of the work-home research has focused on
how work variables affect home from the point of view of the conflict
between the two spheres, organizational psychology also begins to study
how family variables affect job performance and satisfaction.
2. IN THE COMMUNITY The terms 'community-directed', 'community participation' and even
'compliance' obfuscate important gender differences that are inherent
in the implementation of onchocerciasis control. Development of
strategies that recognize these gender differences will have important
implications for long-term adherence to treatment and for the overall
quality and sustainability of the programme.

2. Marginalization
It is the act of relegating someone to an unimportant or position powerless making those feels like they are notes
squeezed into the margins of the society particularly small. At work, marginalization happens because a person or
group like the manager or dominant group has negative preconceived notions about a fellow employee or direct
report. They might believe that such employee is lazy or incompetent without discovering one’s ability since the
manager fails to identify their ability. This is a form of prejudice that breeds a toxic work environment.
Marginalization can have damaging effects on individual’s mental, emotional and physical well-being. Faced with
exclusion, marginalized employees often become disengaged with their work and even more isolated.
Less Work Opportunities and Promotions
Women often times encounter altitudinal or organizational biases that prevent them from reaching their full potentials
in the workplace. They are often blocked from the top management position in business and industries.
= Non- recognition of capabilities
= Low wages
=Slow promotion
=Unequal pay for work of equal values
Subordination
It is defined as placement in a lower class, rank, or positions or it is an act of subordinating someone or something
or treating someone of less value or less important.
=Difficulty of entrance to employment
=few women in decision-making
=No power-sharing
=Non-recognition of capabilities
=Non-recognition and non-valuation of work
> Gender Discrimination
=This refers to unequal or disadvantageous treatment of an individual or group of individuals based
on sex of gender. (Webster)
=Gender discrimination remains responsible for sizeable differences in pay among the sexes. In a
number of workplaces, the principle of equal pay for equal work is continuously being resisted. Reasons for
such gender discrimination include unsubstantial claims like women are weak, they are emotionally
unstable, they give birth frequently, and go on leave adversely affect their productivity.
=Greed accounts for the employers’ non-compliance to the equal treatment of female workers regarding
their deserved salaries. Women perform much of the exploited labor in developing nations. They typically
toil for long hours with low rate but contribute significantly to the income compensated through overtime
work. (Roberta L. Omas- as, Ed.D.,
