your family?

Are you ready to learn and have fun today? Yes, Ma’am!

A. Review

What was our previous lesson? About sentence ma’am.

You’re right! Now what is a sentence? Sentence is a group of words that makes a
statement, asks a question, or expresses a
command, wish, or exclamation.
Very good!

B. Motivation (Video playing)

(The students listens attentively)
Okay, this time we are going to watch and listen
the video. Please listen carefully because I will
ask a few questions after watching it. It is all about The four types of sentences.

Alright, what did you learn in the video that you

watched? What it is all about? Declarative sentence.

Exactly, can you give me one type of sentence? The Four Types of Sentences

Perfect! So, what do you think is our topic for

today?

You got it!

C. Activities

Since our topic for today is about the 4 types of

sentences. I have 4 words here and all you need to
do is to arrange the scrambled letters in order to
form a word. Declarative
Interrogative
EDVECILTAAR Imperative
IENVTIETRAROG Exclamatory
IEMVPIETRAR
RYAMAEXTOCL

Great job everyone!

D. Analysis

Now, let me introduce you the four kinds of

sentences according to use.

1. Declarative Sentence -they’re used when you

want to make a statement (which can be a fact or
an opinion). These sentences end with a period.

Examples:
 Ella was late to the dance.
 I would rather have vanilla ice cream
than chocolate ice cream.
 I want to be a good writer. Ma’am, because it gives an idea and it states a
fact. It also ends with a period.
Now, let’s take a look at the example sentences.
Could you tell me the reason why it’s classified as
declarative?
Very good! My friend is a really good dancer.

Can you give me another example of declarative

sentence?

Wow! Fantastic! Now let’s talk about the second

type of sentence.

2. Interrogative Sentence - asks a question. This

type of sentence often begins with who, what,
where, when, why, how, or do, and it ends with a
question mark.

Examples:
 Why do you think Arthur is mad at me?
 Do you know what the weather will be
tomorrow?”
 Which do you prefer, white or red? What kind of music do you like?

Can you give me another example of interrogative

sentence?

Marvelous! Yes, Ma’am!

It’s easy to understand, right? Remember that an

interrogative sentence ends with a question mark.
Did you get it?” Yes, Ma’am!

I also want to remind you that you have to read an

interrogative sentence well. You have to sound
like you’re really asking a question. Don’t just
read it as if it’s a declarative sentence so you
won’t be misunderstood when someone listens to
you.

So let’s proceed to the next kind of sentence.

3. Imperative Sentence - give a command or an

instruction. It usually ends with a period,
however, imperative sentences can sometimes end
with an exclamation mark if the order is given
with a lot of feeling.

Now, let’s check example sentences.

Examples:
 Please pass the gravy.
 I need you to sit down now!
 Kindly bring the book to me. Ma’am, it’s because the sentence do not state a
fact an opinion. It states a request.
Imperative sentence ends with a period but that
doesn’t mean it’s a declarative sentence. Can
anyone explain why?” Please bring me a glass of water.

Incredible! Now, I want you to give me an

example of an imperative sentence that gives an
order or direction.

Terrific!

Now let’s discuss the last type of sentence.

4. Exclamatory Sentence -are used to express

especially strong emotions such as anger,
happiness, disbelief, etc. and ends with an
exclamation point.

Examples:
 I can’t believe we lost!
 My sister just won the lottery!
 Happy birthday!

As you can see the examples they all end with an

exclamation point, however; if the sentence gives
a command and ends with an exclamation mark,
then it is an imperative, not exclamatory,
sentence. They won the competition!

Now, I know you’ll find it very easy to

understand its uses. Can somebody give me an
example?”
No, Ma’am!
Amazing!

Well done, class! Do you have any questions?

Any clarifications?

E. Abstraction

Now, class, let’s remember that sentences have

four uses. They can be declarative, interrogative,
imperative or exclamatory.

And let us also remember the right punctuations

to use when forming a sentence.”

Now let’s have a short activity.

I will give sentences and all you need to do is to

identify the correct types of sentences according Exclamatory
to use. Imperative
