B. Motivation
“Let’s have a game, the rules of the
game are you will be group in to three,
each group will pick a paper and that is
provided by your teacher. Each paper has
a written word wherein you need to act it
out according to what word is written to
your paper. Each group will choose their
own representative who will act the word
that is written to the paper and the other
members will guess what the word it is.
The picked paper will only be seen by the
person who will act it out. The group who
will finished first will be the winner.

C. Activity
“Before we proceed in our discussion,
let’s have an activity which called “A
Puzzle”. For the instruction, I will group
you in to two groups and I will give you a
puzzle pictures wherein you need to
arrange and complete the pictures. When
you finish the puzzle you need to paste it
in the board and the first group that will
finish it already will be the winner.”
D. Analysis
“To begin our lesson, we must know
what is Folktale.”

“A folktale is a fictional story that has


been orally passed down over
hundreds, sometimes thousands, of
years. The word folk comes from the
German word volk, which means
people. Folktales are thus stories for
people (all people). They are usually
simple, easily-understood stories told
in straightforward language. They
often teach a lesson or explain why
things (such as the sun, moon, and
stars) exist as they do. Many folktales
have animals as characters and
magical elements. Every country in
the world has a version of folktales,
and folktales have existed as long as
humans have.”

“Is it clear class?”

“Alright, So Folktales has its


characteristics.”
“First and foremost, folktales seek to
entertain. While we now tend to think
of them as stories for children, they
were intended for an audience of
adults and children. Some stories have
gruesome murders and torture.
Folktales are often magical, with
humans and animals who have special
powers. Many folktales also teach a
lesson.”

“Do you have any questions or


clarification before we proceed to our None Ma’am
activity?”

“I have an example of Folktale, “Jabu


and the Lion from Africa”

“Jabu was a good boy who helped


watch over his father’s cows. While
feeding the cows, Jabu heard the
sound of a groan from the distance.
Out of curiosity, he moved closer to
the sound. And when he saw it was a
lion, he quickly stepped back.

But the lion pleaded with Jabu to


please help him get out of the trap.
Jabu was very careful because he
knew he would be meat! The lion was
quick to plead and promised he would
not eat Jabu! Jabu took pity on him.
The lion made another promise that he
would never hurt Jabu. So, carefully,
Jabu helped the lion out of the snare.

Once out of the snare, the lion was so


thirsty. So very thirsty that Jabu led
the lion to the stream. And when he
had drunk some water, he was revived.
And reenergized. And he became the
lion once again and was about to
pounce on Jabu when Jabu screamed!
Out came the fox.

“What is happening?” he said from a


distance because he saw the lion.
“What is happening?”

And Jabu told the story. “I only helped


him out of the snare, only to turn
around, about to be eaten by the lion!”

The fox said, “Now, that is strange.


How could the king of all animals, the
lion, be trapped in a snare? No, that is
impossible! What do you mean?”
“I was trapped in the snare! Are you
doubting that I was caught in the
snare?” said the lion to the fox. The
lion said, “Alright, since you doubt
me, follow me. I’m going to show you
what trapped me. Follow me!”

And they all went. And when they got


there, they all saw the trap. The fox
said, “This little thing trapped you,
lion? I don’t believe it!”

At this point, the lion became very


angry, “You don’t believe it? Well, I’m
going to show you! Now you watch
me – this is how I was caught in the
snare!” He was caught again.

Everyone ran away, including Jabu.


And while he screamed for help, this
time help was nowhere to be found.”

“Who are the characters in the story? Ma’am the characters are Jabu, Lion and the
Ms/Mr. _______ Fox

“How about, what is the story all It is all about jabu’s curiosity of the sound that
about?. Ms/Mr. _______ he heard that sound’s like groaning. He went
to where the sounds came from, and saw a
lion, so he immediately stepped back. The
lion saw Jabu and the lion pleaded to help him
out of the trap. Jabu knows that if he help the
lion, he will be a meat, but the lion quickly
promise to him that he will not eat him in
exchange of helping him out the trap. So Jabu
helped the lion, but lion is a lion he need a
food for his hunger that makes Jabu a meat to
him, Jabu just run as far as he can to get away
from lion eating him.

“So, what do you think is the moral


lesson of the Jabu and the Lion?. Nothing good happens to those who break
Ms./Mr._________ promises, Ma’am

E. Abstraction
“If you really listen and understand in
our lesson, What is your generalization or
conclusion about our lesson?”
“What can you say about Folktale?” Ma’am, Folktale is a fictional story and
Ms./Mr._________ folktales have animals as characters and
magical elements. It is a kind of story that’s
Very good! passed-down through generations, typically
by word of mouth.

“How about the importance of folktale in Most folktales teach a lesson. Because
our daily lives?” Ms./Mr._______ folktales are a product of the people, they
typically involve a moral story or lesson that
reflects the values of that culture, so it does
have the importance in our daily lives. For
example is the story of Jabu and the Lion,
which suggest that if we promise to someone
it should be true and not be broken.

“Very good! Now I know that you really


understand our topic or lesson today. I
hope that every lesson we learned will
serves us to be a good person to ourselves
and to other people.”

F. Application
“For our last activity, You are going to
do a slogan which talks about the
moral lesson of your chosen folktale
story in a short bond paper.”

IV. Assessment
Look for a folktale story and make a reflection paper with a moral lesson. Write it in a
