ABSTRACT
Light Fidelity (LiFi) is a Visible Light Communication (VLC) based technology
that making a light as a media of communication replacing the cable wire
communication. LiFi is evolve to overcome the rate speed in WiFi, while using LiFi
the rate speed can reach until 14 Gbps. This paper presents an introduction of the
LiFi technology including the architecture, modulation, performance, and the
challenges. The result of this paper can be used as a reference and knowledge to
develop some of the LiFi technology.

1. INTRODUCTION

DATA TRANSFER USING LASER AND LIGHT(LIFI)
1.1. Objective of The Project:
The prime objective of the project is to create an application that transmits data be
it text, audio or video using Li-Fi technology for coping with the limited
bandwidth problem we face in RF (Radio frequency) signals. For better, efficient,
secure and a faster connection Li-Fi is used. One of the advantages of using Li-Fi
over Wi-Fi is that it avoids radiation produced by Wi-Fi. The goal of our project
is to transfer data with faster speed which is not easy to achieve through Wi-Fi and
see whether transmission is possible through various mediums or not. Li-Fi can be
thought as an alternative for Wi-Fi which uses light as a medium to transmit data.
We aimed at the transmission of data via Li-Fi and all the possible aspects of
transmitting data via light through various mediums which will give us a broad
idea of where and how we can use Li-Fi for transmission of data
1.2. Background Research:
A remote optical systems administration innovation that utilizations light-
transmitting diode (LEDs) for information transmission is Light devotion (LiFi).
Light Fidelity is intentional to utilize LED lights like those by and by being used
in numerous vitality mindful homes and workplaces. Notwithstanding, Li-Fi
bulbs are set up with a chip that tweaks the light imperceptibly for optical
information transmission Light Fidelity information is transmitted by the light
emitting diodes bulbs and received by the photoreceptors. Light Fidelity (LiFi)
near the beginning developmental models was accomplished of 150 Megabits-
per-second. Some of the business units empowering that speed have been
discharged. In the lab, with more grounded Light producing diodes and distinctive
innovation, specialists have empowered 10 gigabits-per-second (Gbps), which is
quicker than 802.11ad.
1.3. Main Purpose:
Li-Fi systems could offer a better system to transmit low latency, high volume
data across networks. Besides providing a higher speed, light waves also have
reduced effects on medical instruments. An example of this would be the
possibility of wireless devices being used in MRIs similar radio sensitive
procedures.

1.4 Future Scope:
As light is everywhere and free to use, there is a great scope for the use and
evolution of Li-Fi technology. If this technology matures, each Li-Fi Bulb can be
used to transmit data. As the Li-Fi technology becomes popular, it will lead to a
cleaner, greener, economical, and safer communication system. Although Li-Fi
promises to solve issues such as, shortage of radio-frequency bandwidth and
eliminates the disadvantages of radio communication technologies, but it is also
associated with short range and the need of a light source. As such Li-Fi is not
likely to replace Wi-Fi completely, but the use of two together i.e. Wi-Fi and Li-
Fi can prove to improve quality of life.
1.5 Applicability:
In current wireless communication system have a security gap because radio
waves can pass through the walls. Security gap is a big disadvantage for
industrial automation systems that are working in higher-up security level. Light
waves cannot pass through the walls. Therefore, these industrial automation
systems are protected using Li-Fi technology.

DATA TRANSFER USING LASER AND LIGHT(LIFI)
2.1 Review of Literature:
A literature review may be a crucial and an appraising outline of the themes,
problems and arguments of a selected clearly outlined analysis topic obtained
from the printed (and unpublished) literature. The literature survey is study of
existing systems as mentioned below. The present Methodology was
incontestable at the 2011 by cluster of corporations and industries group to push
high speed optical wireless system and overcome the radio based mostly wireless
spectrum. Consistent with the li-fi syndicate [2], it's doable to realize quite ten
Gbps of speed, on paper which might enable a high-definition film to download
simply in thirty second. Researchers at the University of Strathclyde [2] in
European country have begun the task of delivery high-speed. The technology
was incontestable at the 2012 shopper natural philosophy show in Las-Vegas [2]
to exchange knowledge victimization lightweight of varied intensity given aloof
from the screens, detectable at a distance of up to ten meters. Employing a
commonplace white-light junction rectifier man of science at the Heirnrich hertz
Institute in berlin [2], Germany, have reached knowledge rates of over five
hundred megabytes per second. The present methodology is incontestable at the
2014 by Rahul R. Sharma, Raunak & akshay sanganal is li-fi technology. This
techniques applied to VLC rate multiplied by parallel knowledge transmission
victimization AN array of junction rectifier (LED transmits totally different
knowledge streams). advantage of this technology is speed > 1Gbps will be
achieved and it will supply of net like Wi-Fi. It will replace with Wi-Fi.

ALAMURI RATNAMALA INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
DATA TRANSFER USING LASER AND LIGHT(LIFI)
3.1 Existing System:
Li-Fi signals work by switching bulbs on and off incredibly quickly – too
quickly to be noticed by the human eye. This most recent breakthrough builds
upon this by using tiny micro-LED bulbs to stream several lines of data in parallel.
3.2 Proposed System:
The following are the steps designed for Proposed System: 1) The first and most
important thing needed for the system to work is Power Supply. 2)Internet
connection is made and streaming of the content is done accordingly. 3)LED
Lamp glows with the help of power supply and there is continuous transfer of 0
and 1 and when there is no obstacle the sensor receives 0 and 1. But if there is an
obstacle the sensor receives only 0 signal. 4)Now, if there is continuous transfer
of 0 and 1 signals the system works as a Li-Fi which has the following steps: a)
Receiving the application data coming from the LED Lamp through sensor. b)
Performing Amplification and Processing. c)Delivering the data to the end user.
Figure 7: Flow Chart showing Proposed System 5) But, if there is only 0 signal
coming from the sensor that means there is some kind of obstacle which may be
wall or anything which does not allow light to transfer the system generates radio
waves in the following manner: a) Oscillator which oscillates the current coming
from the power supply into alternating current. b) Modulator which adds the
information in the wave. c)Amplifier which increases the power of the
transferring wave. d)Antenna which converts the amplified waves into radio
wave. e) Wireless Adaptors are the receivers which receives the radio waves. f)
Finally, the data is delivered to the end user. 6) In this way, the data can be
transmitted through walls without causing any problem to the user.

3.3 Overall Design:
The overall design of our system consists of the following phases:
• In this project we are going to transfer the data without any wire or cable
connection.
• we will convert the data into light form with the help of transmitter.
• And receiver side will decrypt the data and display it.

4.1 Problem Definition:
Different burdens of Li-Fi are powerlessness to light obstruction and
advancement of light contamination. Observe that despite fact that this innovation
is invulnerable to electromagnetic impedances, different wellsprings of light may
meddle with sign. Daylight can meddle with light signals created by a Li-Fi-
empowered LED light. The relating recipient may struggle handling these signs.
Web interference is conceivable. Besides, on grounds that empowered LED lights
should stay on, they can offer further to light contamination, particularly
whenever set at higher splendor to make up for conceivable impedance with other
light sources.
