Reflection/s:
Today's lesson made me feel so satisfied. In my cooking experience on how to cook banana bread was
unforgettable. I discovered a lot of things like preparing the ingredients with all the measurements and
all its instructions. Cooking was a painstaking process but I enjoyed it mixing all those ingredients to create
a delightful and yummy banana cake. Making banana cake was a diligent task of mixing, then baking.
This recent laboratory the banana bread was a quite experience. I was able to share some ideas with my
members and able to express our creativity, also we were able to determine to work out our differences
thru baking. It was new to me because I’m the person who only eat the original breads but this is an
exceptional. I like how it went out putting it with the caramel the blend of the ingredients was brilliant.
As a person who loves to do new things, this baking experience is indeed one of those. I learn the
difference of dry and wet ingredients and why they should be done in different process. I also notice that
in baking magic happens because I didn’t expect that our output exceed my expectations. It's important
to follow the recipe carefully and measure ingredients accurately to ensure the best results. However,
baking can also be challenging at times.
In the recent laboratory I've learned a lot. Baking for the first time is quite challenging. Challenging in the
way that you do not know how and where to start but by the help of my groupmates I overcome it. As a
first time baker, I felt nervous and excited at the same time. I thought baking is hard but it is not, it is fun.
For me, who have no experience about baking it is very challenging for me. I used to think that baking is
just adding variety of ingredients together. The first laboratory I discovered that there are many things
that people have to remember and watch for when cooking such as managing their time, and following
the proper measuring, and following the recipe. Also, through this food lab, I have faced some challenges,
success, learned a lot of things, and discovered the roles of some important ingredients. I measured some
of the ingredients using the proper kitchen utensils and followed the proper measuring techniques. To my
group was composed of very nice, collaborative, assistant, respectful, and hardworking people. We
worked together as a team throughout the whole lab. Our performance in the food lab was good.
The banana bread is made with overripe bananas. It is sweet, cake like quick bread. As the bananas which
make them not sweeter but more flavorful. I learned that if you bake you should prepare the ingredients
first. It takes more patient and it was also fun.
Cooking is always been a passion of mine since I was a kid. I was always beside my Lola whenever she is
in our kitchen cooking. I still remember vividly the first time I hold a ladle and cook the first dish ever. It
was an Ilocano dish called “inabraw” it consist of Moringa leaves and some other vegetable of choice. I
chose squash as one of the ingredients. I also put some “bagoong na alamang” I must admit it was good
for a first time cook. But I didn’t stopped there. I wanted to learn more and broaden my skills in cooking.
I manage to somehow learn the basics of baking. When our prof told us to bake banana, I was relief
because it is familiar for me. Then it was fulfilling since I love baking. I was able to showcase my talent and
skills in cooking most especially my plating skills. I am really looking forward to do more baking soon!
