assault (regardless of gender), mentally ill witnesses, persons with disabilities,
etc. Earlier, the definition only covered child witnesses. The Court also issued
directions to the High Courts to frame scheme for safe deposition by vulnerable
witnesses. The Court later passed a direction to extend the directions to civil cases
and family cases, apart from criminal cases.
