What is affective domain?

The affective domain refers to the way in which we deal with situations emotionally such as feeling,
appreciation, enthusiasm, motivation, values, and attitudes.

In 1964, Krathwohl was named as the first author of this affective domain, but Bloom also worked on
developing this work.

The affective domain forms a hierarchical structure and is arranged from simpler feelings to those that
are more complex. The hierarchical structure is based on the principle of internalization. Internalization
refers to the process whereby a person’s affect toward an object passes from a general awareness level
to a point where the affect is ‘internalized’ and consistently guides or controls the person’s behavior.

So, it goes from being only on a general awareness level to highest level of learning because of the idea
of internalization. Gina internalizes or process ang mga information or data na makuha sa bata from
his/her surroundings and this will shape or guide the person’s behavior, mao na ang target sa affective
domain.

Like how will the learner respond and address to some certain problems around him/her or the
student’s willingness to involved himself/herself in every discussion inside the classroom.

Receiving

Being aware or sensitive to something and being willing to listen or pay attention.

Receiving is the lowest level of learning outcomes in the affective domain. From a teaching standpoint, it
is concerned with getting, holding, and directing the student’s attention.

Your learners must have the willingness to attend to a particular phenomena or stimulation of learning
such as classroom activities, reading, and etc. You present some interesting information or facts to get
their attention and slowly naga process ang ilang learning. Listening is very crucial at this level of
affective domain.

- When they received information, of course they already build their thoughts regarding that so diri na
masulod ang responding.

Responding

Showing commitment to respond in some measure to the idea or phenomenon.

Responding refers to active participation on the part of the student. At this level, the learner does not
only attend to a particular phenomenon but also reacts to it in some way.

This is where participation takes place. Ask them some questions related to your topic so that you will
understand them more.

Valuing

showing willingness to be perceived as valuing or favoring certain ideas.

Valuing is concerned with the worth or value a student attaches to a particular object, phenomenon, or
behavior. This ranges in degree from the simpler acceptance of a value (desires to improve group skills)
to the more complex level of commitment (assumes responsibility for the effective functioning of the
group)

Learning outcomes in this area are concerned with behavior that is consistent and stable enough to
make the value clearly identifiable.
Organizing

arranging values into priorities, creating a unique value system by comparing, relating and synthesizing
values.

Organizing is concerned with bringing together values, resolving conflicts between them, and beginning
the building of an internally consistent value system.

Organizing is when you organize everything such as being able to propose plan for improvement,
recognize the need for balance between freedom and responsible behavior, being able to have a plan to
solve a certain problem, and many more

Internalizing or Characterization by a value or value set.

practicing value system that control one’s behavior, exhibiting behavior that is consisted pervasive,
predictable, and characteristic of a person.

At Internalizing level of the affective domain, the individual has a value system that has controlled his
behavior for a sufficiently long time for him to develop a characteristic life style.

A person's lifestyle influences reactions to many different kinds of situations, cooperate and group
activities, and revise judgment in light of new evidences.
