Reflection 2
After the completion of the time-tracking chart and taking a good look at how I spent my
time during the last week, I gained some interesting insights about how I spend my time.
The first thing that I realized is that I always prioritize working out. Not only do I want to
achieve a great body and stay in shape, but I also want to improve my boxing skills and be a better
fighter in order to compete in the boxing tournaments held in AUI. Therefore, working out every day
is a great habit that will help me reach these goals. Moreover, I dedicate a good amount of time to
sleep, cooking meals and doing house chores, which helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle and aligns
well with my goal of being a responsible and productive individual.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that I spend too much time with my friends. While maintaining a good
social life is one of my goals, it is not as important to me as staying close to my family. That is why I
should change the way I manage my time with my friends. In fact, I should be spending more time
talking to my family even if it’s only on the phone, and try to spend less time with my friends, as it’s
eating into the time I spend talking to my parents, and it distracts me from reaching academic goals.
When it comes to studying, I can see that my current time distribution might not align with my
aspirations. Since I want to excel in my studies, and become academically successful, I need to
devote more time in studying. In fact, spending 5 to 6 hours a week studying is nowhere near my
goal. Ideally, I should be spending at least 3 hours a day studying, and that is why I should invest
more time into my studies in order to achieve my goal of obtaining a GPA of 3.6. For instance, the
right decision would be to spend less time on social media, and pledge that time to studying.
Furthermore, instead of spending approximately 3 hours a day having fun with my friends, I should
reduce that time to about 1 hour, as that is more than enough for maintaining a good social life, and
instead of just wasting time with my friends, we should try to study together, that way, not only do I
devote more time into studying, but I also stay in touch with my friends and learn new soft skills,
which will help me achieve both my academic and social goals.
All in all, the time-tracking chart has given me a clearer vision about my priority
management. While a part of my priority management aligns with my goals of staying in shape and
maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I can see that I have to devote more time into my studies in order to
achieve great academic success. It has taught me that time is valuable, and that I need to find
balance between maintaining a good social life, and being academically disciplined.
