Pneumatic Practice II

This document describes an experiment on the indirect control of a single-acting cylinder using pneumatic components. The procedure involves connecting a push button to a 3/2 directional control valve to control the flow of pressurized air to advance and retract the cylinder piston. When the button is pressed, it generates a pilot signal that controls the final valve to connect air to the piston side of the cylinder, advancing it. Releasing the button allows the piston to automatically retract via a spring or load. The conclusion is that the experiment allows understanding how pneumatic components like control valves indirectly control actuators through signaling elements.

Pneumatic Practice II ( Indirect control of

a single-acting cylinder )
EXPERIMENT OUTCOME
1. Know the pneumatic components as a prerequisite for understanding this exercise.
2. construct the actual circuit as per given circuit diagram ; control lines are the
3. connecting lines between the output of signaling elements ( for example button )
and the pneumatic actuation ports of the actuators. ( for example pneumatically
operated 3/2 directional control valve, port 12 ).
4. Report the observation.
PROCEDURES
1. The piston rod of a single-acted cylinder, retracted in neutral position, should
advance after pushed an easily pressed button.
2. Noted; for the controlled of a large-volume cylinder ( with a large piston diameter )
an accordingly dimensioned directional controlled valve was necessary.
3. The cylinder mounted a slight distance from the button.
5. After released the manual push- button, the piston of the cylinder should retract
automatically into its backed position.
6. All connections should marked with the port symbols according to ISO 1219 and
RP68 P
7. Reported the observation and result included the symbol of component with detail
explanations in full laboratory reported. (1 report per group)
RESULT / DATA
DISCUSSION / OBSERVATION

 The final control valves handle large quantity of air. When the push button is
pressed, 3/2 normally closed valve generate a pilot signal 12 which controls the final
valve thereby connecting the working medium to piston side of the cylinder so as to
advance the cylinder.
 Single acting cylinders have one port where pressurized air enters in one direction. A
spring, or a load, is usually fitted to the piston. Once air is cleaned and compressed it
enters through the single port forcing the piston to extend in one direction
compressing the spring.
 Indirect control means any situation where one person is in a position to act through
another person over whom the first person has control due to the legal or economic
relationship between the two.
CONCLUSION
The conclusion of practical task we able to Know the pneumatic components as a
prerequisite for understanding this exercise and construct the actual circuit as per given
circuit diagram ; control lines are the connecting lines between the output of signaling
elements ( for example button ) and the pneumatic actuation ports of the actuators. ( for
example pneumatically operated 3/2 directional control valve, port 12 ).
