A very good morning to the wise and honourable judges, teachers and
members of the floor. I am Kaseh Damia Khalisya from SK Pangkalan TLDM
ll. I am here to deliver my speech entitled 'Strength is synonymous with unity'.
I do not profess to expert on this subject, but I will try to shed some light on
this matter. What is Unity? As Mattie J. T. Stepanek said, "Unity is Strength”.
When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.
Malaysia is a place to call home where the nation desires security and
prosperity. The country is populated by various ethnic, racial and religion. The
success of integrating Malaysia's various ethnic groups would be established in
a united Malaysian society. Thus, the national unity plays an important role in
the progress of Malaysia. Before Malaysia successfully achieve independence,
our ancestries which come from different background cooperate in order to
demand for independence. The result for their unity has lead Malaysia as a self-
governing country. Hence, we could say that no unity, no Malaysia.
Secondly, the occurrence of unity in Malaysia has created a harmony and
peaceful society. As we know, Malaysia is a nation which grouped by diverse
culture and religion. If the people of Malaysia does not implement with the
quality of unity, conflict and quarrel will occur among them and thus the stable
of political of Malaysia will be corrupted. The attendance of the foreign traders
will not only cause the economy of Malaysia to increase, it may also raise the
status of economic of Malaysia in the world. As the saying goes, 'United we
stand, divided we fall'.
Next, another common example is our family institution. My parents love to
eat chapati and I love "Char kway teow• When we live in a country with
diversity, it is very common to share our interests with family. We have been
introduced to variety of local food by all the races. Therefore, our tastebuds are
vastly influenced by various Malaysian food. Having said that we are not
surprised to see Chinese aunty selling nasi lemak and a Malay stall selling
chapati. This is what we call as unity in diversity. This practice has been great
contribution to our strength in unity. Moreover, there are also interrace marriage
among Malaysians. People from different races get married and learn to have
different culture thus adapt to their family. This kind of marriage will also
contribute in unity where the family and relatives will understand other 's
culture and values. We tend to respect our values and practices in daily life.
Next, the unity in the school is fundamental place where unity not only makes
us more reliable but also increases our resistance by a great deal. Education
system should play a vital role in promoting unity among the students. As we
come from different walks of life therefore, each and every individual has
different qualities for others to possess and learn from them. This is because,
when the students are under the same roof, they can share the experiences and
good qualities with each other’s.
Language. Language is an analytical system of communication: It is a
method of communication that involves the use of human languages. Since we
have multilingual people in our nation, we can learn different types of
languages. It is not surprising if one can converse more than two languages.
Isn't this a boon to all of us? This will only happen in our beautiful nation.
In conclusion, I strongly support the idea of 'Strength is Synonymous with
Unity'. From, our very childhood, we were taught that unity makes us stronger
and better person. Remember, united we stand, divided we fall has been our
motto, and we have always tried to follow it. Unity is fundamental to sustain
country as it teaches us to work together. These will lead a peaceful and
harmony nation. Thank you.
