Primary purpose of job
The purpose of the job is to prepare completion programs and thereafter oversee the execution of the programme at the rig
site.
1. Perform all completion engineering duties related to the assigned onshore rigs, including planning and specifying
completion equipment and services, preparing the long term material forecast to deliver fit for purpose completions in the
most economical manner and with the highest regard for all HSE and process safety considerations.
2. Prepare the detailed step-by-step completion programme based on the requirements in the Well Prognosis including the
detailed specification of the completion accessories setting depths, completion type, weight and grade of tubing and
wellhead design.
3. Manage all completion services including the make-up of sub-assemblies; tubing running services and ensure that all
contractors are aware of the completion schedule and when their services are required to deliver efficient and
problem free completion operations.
4. Monitor the operations on the assigned rig (on call 24 hours a day) and coordinate with the Drilling Supervisor,
Operations Engineer and completion service companies to ensure all services and requirements are provide on time
and that the completion objectives are met and that costs are maintained with budget.
5. Supervise the operations at the rig site during the running of the completion equipment, the installation of the x-mass
tree and during any unplanned operations such as fishing of completion equipment to mitigate and resolve
operational problems during the installation.
6. Prepare the final completion operations report for each well including highlights of any the problems encountered and
thereafter interact with the relevant operation engineers to identify underlying causes and develop appropriate solutions to
avoid reoccurrence.
7. Provide technical and operational advice to the Oil Field Dev.(UN) Petroleum Engineers regarding the down hole
completion and wellhead well design to ensure the optimum completion design with minimum cost is selected
prior to the issue of the well prognosis.
8. Participate in the preparation of tender documents for contracts relating to completion services or equipment and
participate in the technical evaluation of tenders to ensure that new contracts are based on appropriate technical
specifications and that contractors are technically acceptable.
9. Ensure drilling well files are updated and maintained as the official data base to ensure that completion information is
accurate and properly maintained.
10. Monitor, coach and support new QatarEnergy graduate engineers, including the assignment of specific tasks to broaden
their learning experience.
Experience & Skills
• At lease 10 years of completion engineering/ drilling engineering / well site operations.
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and in writing)
• Energy and motivation for delivering outstanding performance and going above and beyond normal expectations.
Education
• BSc. in Engineering (Petroleum Engineering preferred) plus relevant technical courses in completion design, drilling
operations, wellhead design and well control.
• Must be computer literate.
