Course Code and Title BACC 2 Human Resource Management

Course Credits 3 Units

Course Description Human Resource Management (HRM) is a dynamic and essential field that focuses on the strategic management of an organization's
most valuable asset – its people. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the key principles, practices, and theories that
underpin effective HRM. Students will explore topics such as recruitment and selection, employee training and development,
performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. Emphasis is placed on understanding the role of HRM in
aligning organizational goals with the development and well-being of employees, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring
legal and ethical compliance.

Through case studies, practical exercises, and real-world examples, participants will gain the skills needed to navigate the complex
challenges of managing human resources in diverse and dynamic environments. Additionally, the course delves into emerging trends in
HRM, such as technology integration, diversity and inclusion, and remote workforce management, preparing students to adapt to the
evolving landscape of human resource practices. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in HRM principles and
be equipped with the knowledge to contribute effectively to organizational success through the strategic management of human capital.

Course Outcomes At the end of this course, the learner should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a solid understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts of Human Resource Management, including its
role within organizations and its impact on overall business success.
2. Develop proficiency in designing and implementing effective recruitment and selection processes, including the ability to
identify talent, conduct interviews, and make informed hiring decisions.
3. Gain knowledge in designing and implementing employee training and development programs to enhance skills, improve
performance, and contribute to career progression.
4. Acquire skills in managing employee relations, fostering a positive workplace culture, and effectively communicating HR
policies, procedures, and initiatives to employees at all levels.
5. Understand the principles of compensation and benefits management, including designing competitive salary structures,
developing employee benefit packages, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
6. Learn to implement performance management systems, including setting performance expectations, conducting regular
evaluations, providing constructive feedback, and addressing performance issues.
7. Develop an understanding of legal and ethical considerations in HRM, including compliance with labor laws, equal employment
opportunity (EEO) regulations, and other relevant legal frameworks.
8. Recognize the strategic role of HRM in organizational success, and be able to align HRM practices with overall business goals
and objectives. Understand how HRM contributes to competitive advantage and organizational effectiveness.
