ASME Sec Lectures 1

This document discusses static equipment, including: 1. It classifies equipment as static, thermal, or rotating and provides examples of equipment that fall into each category. 2. It describes static equipment types in terms of their function for either process or storage uses. Process equipment examples include separation, drying, and filtration modules. Storage equipment examples include atmospheric, low pressure, and high pressure tanks. 3. It notes static equipment types can differ based on position and support, showing examples of horizontal and vertical vessels supported by saddles, skirts, legs, or lugs.

Static equipment types
Function
Static equipment can be categorized to two categorizes:

• Process
Static equipment can preform main role in the main
process activities as it can sperate, fractionate, drying,
filtering etc.…

• Storage
Static equipment can be used as a storage medium to any
type of product either in liquid or gas phase

• Storage
Static equipment can be categorized based on the pressure of
the storage medium as when the pressure increase the shape
and type of the equipment changes. It is three categorize
Atmospheric tanks, Low pressure tanks, Hight pressure tanks.

Under each category there is many types and shapes.
