Interview answer sheet:
Tell me about yourself:
Answer:
I have recently finished my mechanical engineering degree. My passion for machines has
always been the driving force behind my choice of this field. During my degree, I developed
an interest in the field of automation, which proved to be an excellent means of improving
machine efficiency.
Apart from my studies, I have also been volunteering at various societies to apply the
knowledge I gained through my engineering education. One example of my work is my role in
the IMechE chapter, a new society that was introduced in our university. I worked with a team
of 10 members to organize two product development competitions for junior degree students,
providing them with hands-on experience working as engineers. This experience taught me
important skills such as teamwork, networking, design thinking, and project management.
Recently, I was selected for the Amal Career Prep fellowship. During my tenure, I worked on
several projects, both individually and as part of a team. One of these projects included
fundraising initiatives for the Edhi and Akhuwat foundations. These experiences helped me
further develop my design thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
What is your strength?
During my seventh semester, I had a lot of responsibilities to handle. I was simultaneously
working on my FYP, collaborating with my professor on an image-processing research
project, and volunteering for various societies.
I worked with my team members on both projects to ensure that they were completed
efficiently, and due to our hard work and dedication, we were able to publish two conference
papers.
I was also involved in three events organized by two different societies at the university.
These events were also successful, thanks to the passion and teamwork of myself and my
fellow team members.
In conclusion, I was able to take an active role in all the tasks that were going in parallel, and
this semester I was able to practice multitasking. In addition to multitasking, I practiced
problem-solving, design thinking, and project management.
What is your weakness?
Communication Skills: Upon self-reflection, I discovered that my communication skills were
quite weak. During a semester group project, my team and I came up with an exceptional idea
of a business model. However, during the presentation, I had trouble presenting my part of
the presentation clearly, which resulted in our project being rated as average. To address this
issue, I have been practicing communication and working on building my confidence. I'm
taking advantage of the Amal fellowship to develop my communication skills further. As a
result of these efforts, I've noticed a gradual improvement in my ability to communicate
effectively.
