Reflection Paper
Through our lesson, I have learned a lot. I was able to understand what is police
operations. According to learning, police operations are defined as the job duties,
responsibilities, and activities that the law enforcement agents complete in the field.
Police operations deals with what officers in the field do as they ' serve and protect '.
In the goals and objectives of the police operations. I have learned that the goals of the
police officers are very hard to reach because preserving peace is very hard to maintain
as we, people have different opinion and we all have a difficult personality. In addition,
with that, one of the goals is to prevent crime, I personally think that preventing crime or
preventing someone to do a crime is impossible because as I said a while ago, we all
have different personality. Preventing crime is inevitable, even though there is police
visibility there are just people who are fearless, they do not care even if there's police
nearby. One of the major responsibility is to aid individual who are in danger of physical
harm. I believed that this is very helpful because there is so many bad people
wandering outside so the presence of our police officers are very helpful, as they can
attend someone as they patrolling around your neighborhood.
This subject really caught my attention. First it talks about my dream job, their duties
and their goals. It makes me dream more, it makes my heart flatter but I also know the
consequences as I read through it. First disadvantages are the Twenty-four hour
availability of police officers because you might be doing some family stuff, but
someone needs your help so you don't have a choice but to attend them. But that's your
profession, it's your choice so you don't have the right to make a fuss about it because
knowing you help someone is also fulfilling to your part. One of the factors shaping
police work is the authority to use force. I personally think this is necessary as there are
people who just don't respect police officers, most especially now. They just don't
respect our police, they become more fearless nowadays. Using force when arresting is
really necessary, because there are a lot of people that don't surrends voluntary even if
you already show the arresting paper.
There are four general responsibility of police officers. Firstly, enforcing law, of course
that's common sense already because you are the one who enforces law to the
community or state to maintain peace and order. Personally, I want to be the one who
arrests criminal and put them behind the bars. Next is they should prevent crime. As a
police officers you have to be the one who prevents crime, not the one who is the
reason why there is a crime. Nowadays there just many police officers who committed
crimes, and it's such an awful news to everyone because they should be the one to
prevent someone do it. Third, responding to emergencies. As a police officers,
responding to emergencies are very common responsibility and not just police are the
one who can do it but everybody. It is already our nature to help someone who's in need
of help. Lastly, providing support services. I just learned this now that police officers
should at least participate in doing like this stuff for community. Chapter 1 is very
interesting topic as I have learned so many things in police operations. It makes
everything clear, it makes me want to become a police officer as I read the goals of an
police officers.
Communication is very important to the police operations because they communicate
with each other through writing reports of thru radio. Effective communication is
important as it lead to understanding between each person. There are six basic
elements of communication process, there elements of the model include source or
enconding, message, channel, receiver or decoding, noise, and lastly, response or
feedback. Honestly, it has been tackled to us since junior high school so i already know
this or i must say i have already insight about this elements of communication. I know
that communication is very important as we used this everyday in our life. We
communicate our feelings or opinion that we feel like sharing to anyone. As we want to
communicate there are barrier that hindrance our message towards our receiver. So we
need to do something to eliminate it so we can have an effective communication. If
there is effective communication between a each person there would be a feedback,
and feedback is also important as the message because we will know the opinion of the
receiver.
Law enforcement operation and planning with crime mapping is such a great subject for
me. The first two chapter caught my interest to study more and do my best. I wish that
we will passed this subject and continue our journey towards our goal to be a successful
police officer.
