Answer all questions in this section

3. Read the following passage carefully and then answer the questions that follow:

As culture differs in societies, also, the roles and behaviours played by men and women
are different. In an order, other societies their system of life tends to undermine one side
of sex i.e. women are not provided with their right of contributing ideas in the societies
others are not allowed to get education especially formal education.

While men are given first priority in almost every aspect of life; men are decision making
bodies and owners of all means of production and family. Women are the implementers
of what has been decided by their husbands and have no access to wealth, education and
political rights within the society.

Therefore, gender can be defined as the social relationship between men and women in
social setting basing on sexual characteristics by which males and females are identified
in a society. Gender is the behaviour relationship and roles played by both males and
females in a society. By tracing far back or in a number of years ago, there had been
cultural ways of life which oppressed women in different societies. Such cultural
practices are associated with gender inequalities, like women circumcision (FGM) and
prohibiting them getting education as well as beating them, etc.
