Context of Text DEVELOPMENT
WHAT IS CONTEXT?
Context is defined as the social,
cultural, political, historical, and
other related circumstances that

Question:
What is
HYPERTEXT?
Context of Text DEVELOPMENT
HYPERTEXT (Hypertextuality)
The term hypertext was coined
by Ted Nelson in 1963. It is a non-
linear way to present
information and is usually
accomplished using “links”.

Context of Text DEVELOPMENT
HYPERTEXT (Hypertextuality)
Hypertext documents are
interconnected by links, which
are typically activated by a
mouse click, keypress set, or by
touching the screen.

HYPERTEXT (Hypertextuality)
Example:
The term hypertext was coined in 1963 by
Theodore Nelson. His definition is:
"Hypertext means forms of writing which branch or
perform one request; they are best presented on
computer display screens. Discrete or chunk style,
hypertext consists of separate pieces of texts
connected by links." (Wardip-Fruin, 2004)
Context of Text DEVELOPMENT
HYPERTEXT (Hypertextuality)
HYPERLINK - It is a link from a
hypertext file or document to another
location or file, typically activated by
clicking on a highlighted word or
image on the screen.

Context of Text DEVELOPMENT
HYPERTEXT (Hypertextuality)
Steps to create a hyperlink to a location on a web:
Select the text or picture that you want to display as a
hyperlink.
Press Ctrl + K.
You can also right-click the text or picture and click
Hyperlink on the shortcut menu.
In the Insert Hyperlink box, type or paste your link (URL) in
the Dress box. Note: If you don't see the Address box, make
