concepts and personal life goals influence career planning and

LESSON 1
CAREER DEVELOPMENT CONCEPTS
AND LIFE GOALS
◦ Career development is a study of career paths, success, and behavior. It aims
to explain why a person might be a good fit for a certain career. The lifelong
process of managing learning, work, leisure, and transitions to move toward a
personally determined and evolving preferred future.
◦ Career Goal is a well-defined statement explaining the profession that an
individual intends to pursue throughout his career.
GOAL = YOUR DREAM/S + ACTION STEPS +
TARGET DATE
◦ Learners’ SMART Goals Setting. A planning process that measures five
◦ individual criteria to evaluate a goal and determine its viability and puts it into action.
◦ S- Specific – definite, clear, point
◦ M- Measurable- an estimate of what is to expected, barometer, mark
◦ A-Attainable- to reach as an end of progression, growth effort
◦ R- Relevant- applicable, pertinent, relative to, should make sense
◦ T- Timely- key period, a specific timeline for each step of the process.
SMART Goal – Specific
Goals that are specific have a significantly greater chance of being
accomplished. To make a goal specific, the five “W” questions must
be considered:
◦ Who: Who is involved in this goal?
◦ What: What do I want to accomplish?
◦ Where: Where is this goal to be achieved?
◦ When: When do I want to achieve this goal?
◦ Why: Why do I want to achieve this goal?
Activity 1:
◦ Setting up My Goals in Life Directions: On a short bond paper, write or draw your life map wherein you are tasked to
illustrate yourself after graduating from SHS or in College, five years after graduation, and ten years after. Each target
year, you are expected to write/identify your dream/s.
◦ Activity 2:
My Chosen Career in the Future Directions: Learners are requested to conceptualize oneself and do "Dear Future Me"
letter writing. Write what you want to say about your future self and how you develop your identified weaknesses and
skills and strengthening you're yourself to be better than today. Read and Refer to your work in the discussion below.
