REMIND
◆Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design,
improvement and installation of integrated system of
men, materials and equipment. It draws upon
specialized knowledge and skills in the mathematical,
physical sciences together with the principles and
methods of engineering analysis and design to specify,
predict and evaluate the results to be obtained from
such system (American Institute of Industrial Engineers)

◆Engineering? Engineering is the use of scientific principles to design and build

machines, structures, and other items. The discipline of engineering encompasses a broad range
of more specialized fields of engineering, each with a more specific emphasis on particular areas
of applied mathematics, applied science, and types of application. (Wikipedia)

◆System? A system is a group of interacting or interrelated elements that act according to a

set of rules to form a unified whole.[1] A system, surrounded and influenced by its environment, is
described by its boundaries, structure and purpose and expressed in its functioning. Systems are
the subjects of study of systems theory. (Wikipedia)
