Retro Style Games. "Platformer Level Design Tips." Retro Style Games, 14 Dec. 2023,
retrostylegames.com/blog/platformer-level-design-tips/. Accessed 16 Apr. 2024.
This article details some tips and tricks on how to make a good, enjoyable platformer. It
also details what things might make a platformer unenjoyable and annoying. It also gives
suggestions on what should be added to a platformer, such as moving platformers, spikes, etc.
The website that published this article is known for their gaming-related articles. They
are also knowledgeable about video games and assets that make a game enjoyable or not.
This resource helped me out a lot when I was thinking about what to add to my product.
The things I added from the article were blocks that fall, and bounce pads as well as having
obstacles that focus on precise jumps. If I had more time, I would’ve liked to have also added
moving platforms, checkpoints, and more things the article brings up.
"Tutorial: Blender MODELLING For Absolute Beginners | Low Poly Girl." YouTube,
uploaded by PIXXO 3D, 27 May 2022,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbCW0Cs7aI8&list.
In this video made by the YouTuber PIXXO 3D he shows the process of how to make a
character in Blender. Blender is a 3D animation software that also allows for making and rigging
characters for other medias like video games. He shows how to enter edit mode, extrude objects,
re-color polygons, and more. In this video it also shows how to do lighting, camera movements,
and other tips for Blender.
PIXXO 3D is a 3D animator and is experienced in the field and study. He has also made
many other tutorials on Blender and 3D animation. He also has another channel called PIXXO
that goes over 2D based animation and drawing, which shows how involved he is in the industry.
These tutorials have helped me make a 3D character for my final product and animate it.
While I did not need to make an entirely new model and animations for my final product,
I wanted to go the extra mile and went through the process to learn a new skill (and through the
pain. So many errors). Not only have these tutorials helped me liven up my final product but
have also taught me a new skill that I can use in my future.
"Unreal Engine 5 Beginner Tutorial | Getting Started (2023)." YouTube, uploaded by
Smart Poly, 16 Sept. 2023, www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRmn-
EYt8wI&list=PLncmXJdh4q88DFCEVuGpOY3AGQwBvoQnh.
In this video by Smart Poly, he explains the basic controls and tools found in the Unreal
Engine. He goes through the basics in a slow and understandable way for newcomers. The link
also takes you to his playlist with his other tutorials that go more in depth on other topics like
how to make certain things and what variables are and how to use them. The tutorial is well
made going over even the littlest things like how to move, rotate, and scale objects.
Smart Poly is also well educated in the topic that he is talking about, which is proved
with his other tutorials and videos. This means that the information he gives is trustworthy.
These tutorials helped me learn how to use and work with Unreal Engine for my final
project. More specifically these tutorials taught me how to use variables which are a big part of
the programming process and make certain things a lot easier. It also helped me understand what
everything was and what I should be focusing on.

This link leads to a Sketchfab page that has a fan made 3D model of a goomba from the
video game series Super Mario Bros. The model was made by Yanez Designs who has made
many other 3D models before on Sketchfab. Sketchfab is an online resource where people can
upload their own 3D models for free or sell them for money.
Yanez has experience making 3D models. In face they have made over 1000 different
models and uploaded them to Sketchfab.
I used this goomba model in my product as an enemy that wanders around the map. I
made the enemy work similarly to a goomba from Super Mario Bros.
