PROJECT PRESENTATION
ON
Wireless ELECTRICAL Vehicle Charging Station
PRESENTED BY :- HARSH TIWARI

VIVEK KUMAR GAUTAM
DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL VEER VIKARAM
ENGINEERING 2021-
Introduction
• A charging station, also known as
a charge point or electric vehicle
supply equipment (EVSE), is
a power supply device that
supplies electrical power for
recharging plug-in electric
vehicles (including battery electric
vehicles, electric trucks, electric
buses, neighborhood electric
vehicles and plug-in hybrid
vehicles).
What are EVs (Electric
Vehicle)?

• An electric vehicle is a vehicle that runs fully or partially

on electricity. Unlike conventional vehicles that just use
fossil fuels, e-vehicles use an electric motor that is
powered by a fuel cell or batteries. We can also use the
terms ‘e-vehicle‘ and ‘EV.
• Electric vehicles are environmentally friendly. They
don’t release harmful gases or smoke into the air, which
helps to reduce pollution and fight global warming.
NEED OF THIS
TECHNOLOGY
• As it well encourage the use electric
vehicle even in remote ares where
transmission line are not present, as it is
solar driven.
• Reduce the need of large and heavy
battery for electric vechile.
• No need to stop for charging as it can
charge continuously when in operation.
• This also contribute in reducing
pollution.
WORKING
• The solar panel is get change
from sunlight.
• Then this power is supply to
battery through boost converter.
• Then the DC supply is given as
input to inverter from battery
(12v).
• After this the inverter convert
this 12v(DC) to 220v(AC).
• Now this AC supply is fed to
transmitting coil.

utilized in Residential areas.
What is Wireless
charging ?
• Inductive charging (also known as wireless charging or
cordless charging) is a type of wireless power transfer. It
uses electromagnetic induction to provide electricity to
portable devices. Inductive charging is also used in
vehicles, power tools, electric toothbrushes, and medical
devices.
HOW INDUCTIVE CHARGING
SYSTEM WORKS

• It have a underground power lines and it

energized the primary coil.
• Primary coil produce a magnetic field.
• Ev have secondary coil in the bottom and it
links with the magnetic field.
• Then power is transferred to secondary coil
from primary coil by mutual induction and
battery is charged.
• It is helpful to reduces the weight of
the vehicle because of it only requires
a small battery.
First Wireless Charging
Road for Electric Vehicles

• Qualcomm has demoed dynamic

electric vehicle charging (DEVC), which
allows vehicles to charge while driving.
This is based on the Qualcomm Halo
wireless electric vehicle charging
technology (WEVC). Qualcomm said that
it has designed and built a wireless DEVC
system capable of charging an electric
vehicle (EV) dynamically at up to 20
kilowatts at highway speeds and in
excess of, 100 km/h.
Hardware
Components
• Solar Panel
• Battery Bank
• 4047 IC
• 16*2 LCD
• Transformer
• Transmitting Coil
• Receiving Coil
• Motor
1. Solar Panel
A small solar panel is a compact photovoltaic (PV) module that can
convert sunlight into electricity. These mini solar panels are designed to
be portable.

2. Battery Bank
Battery packs are extensively used in electric vehicles, hybrid
vehicles, energy storage systems, and other applications
requiring large capacity and high voltage.
3. Motor
A direct current (DC) motor is a type of electric machine that
converts electrical energy into mechanical energy
4. 16*2 LCD Display
An LCD screen is an electronic display module that uses liquid crystal to produce a visible
image. The 16×2 LCD display is a very basic module commonly used in circuits. The 16×2
translates a display of 16 characters per line in 2 such lines.

5. Transformer
Small-size power transformers are used in the power section of the electrical
appliances to further step down AC mains to low voltages ranging from 5V to 50V.

6. Transmission Coil
The primary coil is where AC current is fed in. The secondary coil is where the
current is induced to perform some sort of transfer of energy.

7. 4047 IC
The 4047 IC applications include a wide range like generation of
the pulse wave, sine wave, and DC signal to AC signal
conversion.
OBJECTIVE
• To develop a system in which we use "RENEWABLE
SOURCE" so we use SOLAR ENERGY.

• TO charge electrical vehicle wirelessly when

running.
Advantages

80% reduced operating cost than equivalent gas powered vehicles

Lower maintenance costs than gas powered vehicle.

Pollution free.

Zero recharging time and unlimited range (when operating on an grid road).

A number of EVs can be changed at a time.

Hassle free.
Disadvantages

Initial installation cost is very high.

Working area is limited.

Currently the speed is limited to 40 miles per hour.

Heat generation is more than traditional charging.

Complex Design.
Conclusions
• Over the next decade, there will be a rapid roll-out of wireless charging infrastructure,
initially in off-road parking applications soon after standardizations completes. However
the pressure to extend this to on-road applications such as taxi-rank systems will follow
soon after. Researchers must focus on improving the options and reducing the cost of the
electronics to enable on-road stationary and dynamic power transfer and along with this
there will be careful analysis of what may be economically viable, however the economics
are not just in terms of getting a return on infrastructure, but also on the health benefits of
electrifying within cities. What is also likely is some compromise between powered
sections in and around cities and DC fast charging, with fast charging systems likely being
preferred intercity and interstate.
