 INTRODUCTION:

Data Science as a multi-disciplinary subject that uses

mathematics, statistics, and computer science to study and
evaluate data. The key objective of Data Science is to extract
valuable information for use in strategic decision making,
product development, trend analysis, and forecasting.
Data Science concepts and processes are mostly derived from
data engineering, statistics, programming, social engineering,
data warehousing, machine learning, and natural language
processing. The key techniques in use are data mining, big data
analysis, data extraction and data retrieval.
Data science is the field of study that combines domain
expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of mathematics
and statistics to extract meaningful insights from data. Data
science practitioners apply machine learning algorithms to
numbers, text, images, video, audio, and more to produce
artificial intelligence (AI) systems to perform tasks that
ordinarily require human intelligence. In turn, these systems
generate insights which analysts and business users can translate
into tangible business value.

 ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

In this complete 4weeks training I successfully learnt about

the basics of python, Understanding Operators, Variables and
Data Types, Conditional Statements, Looping Constructs,
Functions, Data Structure, Lists, Dictionaries, Understanding
Standard Libraries in Python, reading a CSV File in Python,
Data Frames and basic operations With Data Frames,
Indexing Data Frame, statistics, predictive modeling, and
machine learning. Also, now I’m able to perform data analysis
using python. I also attempted various quizzes and
assignments provided for periodic evaluation during one
month. At the end of this training program, I had a solid
understanding of data science and will be able to build an end-
to-end predictive model.

 MOTIVATION

Data Science has become a revolutionary technology that

everyone seems to talk about. Hailed as the greatest job of
the 21st century’. Data Science is a buzzword with very few
people knowing about the technology in its true sense.
While many people wish to become Data Scientists, it is
essential to weigh the pros and cons of data science and
give out a real picture.
It has always been a point of concern for me how various
machine learning algorithms, statistical models, and data
visualization techniques works.

 OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE OF
THE PROJECT WORK

Objective:
The primary objectives of the internship were:
1. To apply theoretical knowledge of data science and
machine learning in practical projects.

2. To gain hands-on experience with data collection,

cleaning, analysis, and visualization.

3. To contribute to solving real-world business problems

using data-driven approaches.

4. To enhance technical and soft skills relevant to data

science.

Scope of project: The project that I worked on, in my

internship period is object Detection system(face
recognition). The functioning of the project in brief, is to
recognize and detect various object of the user’s captured
through the cam of a laptop. This project can be extended in
various fields like in security by adding the recognition
feature, in video calling, etc.

 DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The face is one of the easiest ways to distinguish the

individual identity of each
other. Face detection is usually the first step towards many
face-related technologies, such as face recognition or
verification. However, face detection itself can have very
useful applications. The most successful applications of
face detection would probably be photo taking. This project
captures the various facial details of the face of the user
using live video capture, that can be done through systems
like web-cam etc., or we can use images that are already
saved on the system. While this happens, we convert the
RGB image to grayscale as it is easy to detect faces in
grayscale. The major part during this capture is that the
camera captures only those part of the face that are of our
interest, and not non face regions, in the case we use real
time capture. In this we use Appearance-based method,
opencv library, haar classifier and many more to achieve
our desired result. Face Detection is a part of object
detection and can use in many areas such as security,
biometrics, law enforcement, entertainment, personal safety,
etc

 LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing the training, I am able to:

• Develop relevant programming abilities.

• Demonstrate proficiency with statistical analysis of

data.

• Develop the skill to build and assess data-based model.

• Execute statistical analysis with professional statistical

software.

• Demonstrate skill in data management.

• Apply data science concepts and methods to solve

problem in real-world
contexts and will communicate these solutions
effectively.

 CONCLUSION

The internship in data science was a transformative

experience that provided me with practical skills and
insights into the world of data analysis and machine
learning. It allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the
organization's goals while learning from experienced
professionals. This experience has reinforced my passion
for data science and my commitment to a career in this
field. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to
applying the knowledge and skills gained during this
internship to future endeavors in data science.
