4. Classroom Rules
For a smooth flow for our discussion, I have
only one rule, just listen to me, so that teacher
will listen to you

B. Priming
Last meeting we talked about the sum of the
interior and exterior angles of convex polygons.
As a recap, what is interior angle of a polygon?
(Students raises their hands)
Yes, Nicole?
Nicole: Interior angle of a polygon are
the angles formed by the consecutive
sides of a polygons.
Very good, give 5 claps to Nicole.

How about the exterior angles of a polygon?

(Students raises their hands)
Yes Justine?
Justine: Exterior angles of a polygon are
the angles formed when the side of a
polygon is extended.
Okay very good! Give also 5 claps to Justine.

Questions? Any clarifications regarding to our

topic last meeting?
No ma’am
Alright, that’s good to hear.

C. Motivation
Before we will proceed to our discussion, I have here
a picture.

What is the missing object?

You’re right! It’s a wheel ma’am
Why wheel is important?
Because the car won’t move if there’s no
wheel ma’am

Very good, what is the shape of the wheel?

To further understand, we will be having an activity. It’s circle ma’am
COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
D. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
You will have a group activity. I will group you in to
four groups. The activity is called “Fill Me”

What I have here is an envelope that contains

scrambled letters. What I want you to do is to arrange
the letters and paste it on the given illustration based
on the description provided at the back of the
envelope.
(Teacher will distribute the materials).
Please write your group number and the name of the
members.
Are you done? Yes ma’am

Everybody read the directions. Directions: Arrange the scrambled

letters and paste it on the illustration
based on the given description.

1. ERTCNE a point located at the

center.

2. ROCHD a straight linesegment

whose endpoints both lie on
the______.

3. TREMEADI a straight line

passing from side to side through
the center of a body or figure .

4. SUDIRA a straight line from

the center to the circumference of
a circle or sphere .

5. ANTCES is a line that

intersects the_____in two
different points.

6. NGETANT is a line that

intersects the_____in exactly one
point
Do you have questions or clarifications class? None ma’amCOLLEGE OF EDUCATION

I will only give you five minutes to finish your task.

Time starts now! Students do as told

Group one, did you help each other to finish the

task? Yes ma’am

Very good group 1!

How about the other groups? We also helped each other ma’am

Wow, that’s good to hear

How was your activity? (students will share their ideas)

What did you do during the activity? Yes Justine? We arranged the scrambled words and
paste it on the diagram, ma’am.
Very Good Justine!

What is the shape of the diagram? Circle, Ma’am!

I have here a ball, how can you describe this one? It is round ma’am

Can you give me other examples of round Clock

objects? Coin
Buttons

In mathematics class, circle is divided in to parts.

Now, we are going to discuss, everybody read. “Circle and Its Parts”

Lend me your ears, because at the end of the

lesson you are expected to, everybody read. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, learners are
expected to:
a. identify the parts of a circle;
b. illustrate a circle and its parts;
and
c. give real-life examples of a
circle.

Circle is one of the geometry of shapes.

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
Based on your activity, who can tell me what is a
circle? Yes Micayle? Circle a closed curve, every point of
which is equidistant from a fixed point
called the center.
Very Good Micayle!

Based on that definition, who can draw a Circle

in the Board? Yes Allanes?

Thank you Allanes!

Now class, is that a circle? Yes ma’am

Okay, give 5 claps to Allanes

What do you call a point located at the center? Center, Ma’am.

Who can draw the center? Yes Danica?

Very Good Danica!

What is a straight line from the center to the Radius, Ma’am.

circumference of a circle or sphere?

Who can draw a radius?

Yes Rielmark?

Very good Rielmark!

What is a straight-line segment whose endpoints

both lie on the circumference of the circle. COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
Chord, Ma’am.

Who can illustrate a chord? Yes Xyrielle?

Very good Xyriel!

What is a straight line passing from side to side

through the center of a body or figure? A diameter Ma’am.

Who can illustrate it? Yes Jade Mae?

Very good Jade Mae!

Based on our activity, what do you mean by It is a line that intersects the
secant? circumference of the circle in two
different points.

Who can illustrate a secant? Yes Laurence?

Very good Laurence!

Lastly, what is tangent? It is a line that intersects the circle in

exactly one point.
Who can draw a tangent? Yes Christian? COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Very good Christian!

3. Abstraction
Now, let us have a recap.
What are the parts of the circle? Yes Cuay?
1. Radius
2. Diameter
3. Chord
4. Secant
5. Tangent

That’s right, Give 3 claps to Cuay.

What line segment one of whose end points is at

the center of the circle? Yes Rizza? Radius ma’am

That’s Correct!

Very good Kent!

A circle is a round plane figure.
Again what is a Circle? COLLEGE
(Students raises OF EDUCATION
their hands)

Now, who can give me an example of circle that

can be seen in our surroundings? Ball ma’am

Yes Maca?

Very good! A coin ma’am

What else? Yes Charlene?

A coin is also a round shape.

What else? A clock ma’am

Yes Christian?

Very good! But, please be reminded that not all

the clocks are circle in shape, it can be square, a
rectangle or even the face of mickey mouse.

What else? Button ma’am

Yes very good! Yet not all the buttons are round
shape.
So there are more objects that formed a circle.
None, Ma’am.
Do you have further questions or clarifications
about circle and its parts?

Great!

D. Values Integration

Now, let me ask you a question.

(Students shares their ideas)
What do you mean by circle of life?

We have different interpretations of this phrase, but

what I want you to know is the circle of life moves us
all through despair and hope, through faith and love.
It teaches us that life has its ups and downs, just like
how we sometimes find ourselves at the bottom and
other times at the top. It reminds us to stay strong
during tough times and appreciate the good times,
knowing that situations can change and improve with
time. Like the circles, sometimes life brings you back
to a place you have been before just to show you how
much you have grown. We go round to experience,
reflect and learn.

Are we clear class? Yes ma’am

Great now, let’s have another activity.

E. Application COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
This is a group activity. With the same group, I have
here an illustration and a marker. I've placed balloons
under your chairs. Each balloon contains various parts
of a circle. Your task is simply to retrieve the words
inside the balloon to answer. If you’ve already found
the words, paste it on the illustration.
Everybody read the directions.

Directions: Identify the radius, chord,

diameter, secant, and tangent of the
given illustration. Paste your answer in
the space provided.

I will only give you 5 minutes to finish your task.
