shapes and sizes, and geometric relationships.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and
solve accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of
polygon.
C. Learning Competencies The learner illustrates a circle and the terms related to it: radius, diameter,
chord, center, arc, central angle, and inscribed angle. (M7GE-lllg-1)
I. OBJECTIVES At the end of 50-minute lesson, the students are expected to achieve the
following with at least 75% level of proficiency:

Good Morning Class! Good Morning Teacher Jessa!
How’s your day my dear students? It’s Good Ma’am!
“It’s nice to hear that! Before anything else, (Everyone is praying)
may I request everyone to please stand for a
prayer to be led by _____.
“Thank you! Kindly go to your proper seat (Students go back to their proper
and pick up the trash then I will check your seats)
attendance.”
A. Review of the
previous lesson or
presenting the new
lesson.
Who can recall on what we had discussed last
meeting? Last meeting we discussed about
polygons.
Very Good!
What are polygons? Polygons are plane figure formed by
three or more segments such that each
segment intersects with exactly two
others and no segments with a common
endpoint are collinear.
Very Good!
Who can give examples of polygons?
The example of polygons are Triangles,
Quadrilaterals, Pentagon, Hexagon,
Heptagon, Octagon, Nonagon, Decagon
Thank you! and etc.
“This morning we will discuss another lesson
B. Establishing the but before we will proceed to our proper
purpose of the discussion let us have first an activity. I will
lesson divide the class into four groups. Please count
1-3 and form a circle with your groupmates.”
Are you familiar with the game “SCATTER”?
The instruction is you will identify the given
logos and each correct answer you will
receive scatter coin. The fastest group who
have three scatter coins and correct answers
will be the winner and receives a prize.
Logos to guess:
The winner is .........
Thank you for your cooperation class!
(Students do the YOYO applause.)
Let’s give ourselves a YOYO applause!
From the activity that we have done, what did
you observe on the given logos? The logos has different names.
Correct!
Any observation?
The logos are all circle.
Brilliant idea! so our topic for today is all
about circles and we will also discuss the
terms related to a circle and its parts.
D. Discussing the Anyone who has idea about circle? A circle is a perfectly round shape.
concept practicing
skills #1 Okay very good! That is one of the definitions
of a circle.
In other words, a circle is the set of all points
in a plane that are the same distance from a
fixed point called the center.
I have here a circle, what do you see inside I can see a point located at the center of
the circle? the circle.
Okay, there is a point at the center of the
circle, this point is called the center or the
central point. Circles are named through
their central point. So, what is the name of Circle O Ma’am.
this circle?
Very good!
A radius is a line segment from
Next is the radius. What is a radius? the point.
Based on the definition who can illustrate a (Student will answer on the board)
radius in circle O?
Very good!
All radii in a circle have equal length. Radii is
the plural form for radius.
The other part of a circle is diameter.
A diameter divides the circle into two equal
parts. It is twice the length of radius.
Anyone who can draw a diameter at the (Student will answer on the board)
board?
Very Good!
The next part of a circle is chord. What is a A chord is a line segment whose
chord? endpoints are on a circle.
Let’s draw a chord in the circle.
We have segment MN as an example of a All diameters are considered as chords
chord. So, now I have a question, are all but not all chords are considered as
diameters considered as chords and are all diameters because not all chords passes
chords considered as diameters? through the center of the circle.
Did you understand? Yes Ma’am!
E. Discussing new Let’s proceed to the next part of a circle is An angle formed at the center of the
concepts central angle. What is central angle? circle.
practicing
skills #2 A central angle is an angle formed by two
rays whose vertex is the center of the circle.
Let’s take a look at this example
We have angle AOD as a central angle of
circle O.
The next part of a circle is arc. Do you have
an idea about arc? An arc is a curve of a circle.
An arc is a part or a portion of a circle. A
semicircle is an arc with a measure equal to
one-half the circumference of a circle. It is
named using the two endpoints and another
point in the arc.
What do you think are the two types of arc?
Anyone? I think Ma’am the two types of arc are
minor arc and major arc.
Very Good!
A minor arc is an arc of the circle that
measures less than a semicircle.
A major arc is an arc of the circle that
measures greater than a semicircle.
Let’s take a look at this example
What are the arcs of Circle O?
Arcs VE, EN, VEN
Very Good!
Then, another term related to a circle is
inscribed angle.
An inscribed angle in a circle is formed by two
chords that have a common end point on the
circle.
Let’s take a look at this example
What is the given inscribed angle in circle Angle HOT
A?
Very Good! We have HOT as an inscribed
angle.
“To further enhance your knowledge, let’s do
some more examples.”
Please look at the figure in the board and
name the different parts of circle.
Center
What is O?
What is the diameter of circle O? SN
What are the radii of circle O? OM, ON, OT, OS
What is RP? Chord
So, these are the parts of a circle. Do you

share?
Very Good class!
Let’s proceed to your activity
The Tambayan Bistro restaurant introduce
their new product which is pizza pie. It is not
an ordinary pizza because it has a different
flavor and it has a lot of slices than the ordinary
pizza. As a costumer you are going to identify
the parts of the pizza such as center, radius,
diameter, arc, and central angle.
1. Center- A
2. Radii- AB, AC, AD, AE
3. Diameter- DE
4. Arcs- CD, BE, BED, EDC, ED
5. Central Angle-CAE, CAD
Very Good! You did it correctly. Let’s give
everyone a “Ang Galing ng Beshy ko!”
