INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE TOPIC:

" We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing things because we are

curious, and curiosity keeps leading us to new paths. "

Adolescence is a phase full of curiosity. We are once a child who appreciates the

beauty of the world endlessly but as we become a teen, we are eager to experiment and

explore the truth and the unknown world. Adolescents become enticed to experience new

aspects that fill their minds either with comfort or the dangers of unexpected discoveries

(Salek, 2022).

Teenagers seek to take a different route that leads them to who they want to be.

They have this stigma that teenagers should be in a position where they try on new things,

make decisions on their own, and work out the purpose of their existence. Moreover, the

majority of the youth are fascinated by freedom in choosing their social life while being

influenced by their friends (Pellisier, 2022). In this documentary, most of them believe that

it is the real meaning of happiness in the stage of adolescence. This skit is about a

teenager who is curious about leaving the life she used to live and wanting to add spice

to it because of being forced by her friends. Where will this exploration driven by curiosity

and social influence take her? Can she discover the satisfaction and truth in life?

SKIT/SCRIPT

(The first scene introduces the main character in the library.)

Kat: (reading books with her friend, Gwen)

SCENE ONE

SETTING: SCHOOL-Classroom

Habang nag-aaral ang dalawang magkaibigan na Kat at Gwen ay biglang lumapit

ang isang grupo ng magkakaibigan at kinausap si Kat.

Trish: Hey Kat! Wanna join us later?

Kat: Ha, saan?

Trish, Amy, Claire: (Sabay sabay ipapakita ang picture nila na nasa club o umiinom ng

alcoholic drinks)

Amy: OMG guys, itlog is waving for tomorrow's quiz. Pero cheating arrangement lang

katapat niyan.

Kat: Sorry, I can’t, magrereview pa kasi ako.

Trish: Masyado kang seryoso sa life, boring.

Amy: Kat, sama ka nalang kasi sa amin, para naman may iba ka ring malaman bukod

dyan sa mga libro mo.

Claire: Hindi sasama ‘yan. Kat stands for boring, mabait nating classmate. Loosen up a

bit. Huwag mong sayangin ang pagiging teen mo diyan sa pag-aaral lang. Eew.
Gwen: That’s enough, you know nothing about Kat’s life.

Kat: Gwen, comfort room lang

(Naiwan ang iba sa classroom habang pumunta si Kat sa comfort room matapos

ang nangyaring pag-uusap.)

Pinagmasdan ni Kat ang kaniyang sarili sa salamin at biglang pumikit habang patuloy na

naiisip ang sinabi ng kaklase na mistulang bumubulong na sa kanya.

Voice 1: Boring, boring.

Voice 2: Tara na kasi gumimik.

Voice 3: Wag ka nang mag-aral.

Voice 4: Try mo rin kasi. Masaya ‘to, promise,

Kat: (Pipikit at mahinang sasabihin) Sige Kat, let’s try!

Minulat niya ang kaniyang mga mata at tumakbo papalabas upang kausapin ang

magbabarkada upang sabihin ang kaniyang pagsama sa kanilang pagliliwaliw.

Kat: Trish, wait. (Napigilan niya ang mga ito sa pag-alis)

Kat: Sige, sasama ako

Gwen: (Lumabas ng classroom upang sundan si Kat subalit nakita niyang kausap nito

ang magkakaibigan at sinubukang pigilan si Kat.)


SCENE TWO

(Transition)

SETTING: CLUB COMFORT ROOM

Muling nagmulat si Kat sa tapat pa rin ng salamin, subalit ito’y sa salamin na ng comfort

room ng club at sa pagkakataong ito ay kasama na niya ang kaniyang mga kaklase.

Kat: (titingin sa salamin) PERFECT!

Trish: OMG, Let’s go!

(Sabay-sabay lalabas sa comfort room.)

SCENE THREE

SETTING: CLUB

(Loud music and crowd noise sound effects)

Kat, Amy, Trish: Ang tatlong magkakaibigan ay mag-liliwaliw sa loob ng club habang

umiinom ng alcoholic drinks.

SCENE FOUR

SETTING: CLASSROOM

Kat: (Inaantok habang nagtuturo ang teacher at tila magugulat sa ring ng bell.)

Teacher: Okay class review for tomorrow’s long quiz. (Sabay alis ng teacher.)
Trish: Kat, G ka?

Kat: Uhmm of course, I’m in.

Gwen: (Lalapit kay Kat) Aren’t you going to review? Alam mo namang mali yung

ginagawa nila, ‘di ba?

Kat: Of course (titigil saglit) NOT (madiin nitong sabi).

Gwen: Kat! (sinubukang pigilan)

(Kukunin ang bag at aalis sa room kasama ang ibang classmates. Nakatitig lamang sa

kaniya ang si Gwen at umiiling.)

SCENE FIVE

SETTING: CLUB

(Loud music and crowd noise)

Papasok si Kat sa club kasama ang kaniyang mga kaibigan. Habang nagsasaya ay

biglang lumapit ang isang kaibigan at may inabot na drugs. Tinanggap niya ito sa kabila

ng pagtataka rito.

(Magblablack-out then papasok ang background music)


SCENE SIX

Ipapakitang unti-unti nang nagbabago ang performance ni Kat sa school. (Bumagsak sa

exam)

Magkausap si Kat at ang kaniyang teacher, mistulang may pangit na balitang ibinahagi

ang guro kay Kat.

SCENE SEVEN

SETTING: HOUSE

Papasok ng pinto ng kanilang bahay na tila wala sa kaniyang sarili si Kat. Bubungad sa

kanya ang galit na magulang.

Mother: Kat, ano itong sinabi ng teacher mo sa’kin? Ano bang nangyayari sayo? Bakit?

Kat: (Nakatulala lang na parang walang naririnig.)

Kat: Pwede bang curious lang. Hashtag no to boring life. (Walang emosyon at paggalang)

Mother: Sinisira mo na ‘yang buhay mo. Umayos ka, pagsisihan mo rin yan sa huli.

Mother: Ano ba para wala kang naririnig.

Mother: Kat, Kat! (palakas nang palakas)

Kat: (Ipapakitang naiirita at tatakluban ng kamay kaniyang tenga.)


TRANSITION SOUND EFFECTS

Rewind lahat ng nangyari mula sa scene seven hanggang scene one kung saan

nakaharap si Kat sa salamin.

SCENE EIGHT

SETTING: Comfort room (REALITY)

Nakaupo si Kat sa tapat ng salamin.

Kat: (Imumulat ang mata at makikita ang kakaibang bersyon ng kaniyang sarili.)

Pangalawang bersyon ni Kat.

Kat (illusion): Oh, ano curious ka nanaman. Dito ka dadalhin ng curiosity na yan.

Real Kat: What are you talking about? (Confused and scared)

Kat (illusion): I know what you are thinking, you are eager to explore and experience

new things but just to remind you don’t ever lose control. Do not change yourself just

because others told you to. You won’t be happy, I swear, being curious is normal but

choose to explore things that would help you learn and become better.

Kat (Real): (shock about what her illusion said.)

Real Kat: (Inhale, exhale) It is okay to be curious and explore but never lose control.

What you are is enough and your life is wonderful. (Nakangiti habang nakatingin sa

kanyang repleksyon sa salamin.)


CONVERSATION continues (scene 1) After her imagination of doing the things that she’s

not into.

Kat: Okay lang, you don’t need to feel pity for me. My life may seem boring for you guys,

but it doesn’t matter as long as I’m happy and contented.

Kat: Yoy know what, I understand na you guys are just trying to enjoy this stage of our

life, but I just want to remind you na whatever you guys are doing right now will also affect

your future.

Gwen: Watch yourself guys and know your limits because in the end the only thing you

guys can do is to regret.

Amy: Ano ba ‘yan.

Kat: Yung gimik pala pass muna ako. It’s not worth my time.

ENDING POINT OF VIEW

The big part of being a teenager is our curiosity and eagerness to explore and

experience something new because we have this mindset that we are now at the right

age to do everything we want to do as if we own the world. Not knowing that we teenagers

still have our limitations and will always have regardless of our age. Having lots of curiosity

is a good thing, this helps us to learn and discover, what’s wrong is how we tend to be

impulsive and out of control. I just want to enjoy my life and make it as colorful as I want

it to be, I will do whatever I want but I will always be aware of my own limits.
Kat: (In the library: reading a book)

The end.

CONCLUSION:

The skit is all about Kat, a teenager who cares about her academic performance

and who always looks after her future, being curious about the life of her friends and how

can they uncover happiness by committing those kinds of deeds. They always forced her

to perform things that are completely odd to her. Sometimes, she is pressured since they

called her a mere boring teenager, but she also wants to do those unfamiliar stunts to halt

being a typical teenager. Kat desires happiness and new experiences in life. As she looks

at herself in the mirror and closes her eyes, she explores life driven by curiosity and social

influence. She felt uncontrolled even by just imagining those. As she senses something

wrong, she realized the truth about the path her friends are taking. In the end, someone

else praise cannot give her satisfaction, but she rather needs to be herself. Kat can find

happiness by taking care of herself and her future. This skit expresses that everyone can

be a remarkable person because of their uniqueness not because of being influenced by

others trying to be someone else you are not. An individual can learn and have fun but

limitations are indeed required in life.
