+ POSITIVE SENTENCES IN SIMPLE PRESENT

TIME REFERENCE NAME/PERSON/PRON VERB IN SIMPLE

OUN PRESENT COMPLEMENT
Every morning, I / You/ They / We study English.
He / She / It studIES English.

In positive sentences, the 3rd Person singular: HE/SHE/IT modifies the verb form.
*VERB STUDY: No modifica su forma con los pronombres I/YOU/THEY/WE. Pero cuando se utiliza en una oración
positiva para hablar de cualquiera de las 3eras personas singular (He/ She/ It), los verbos modifican su forma infinitiva
y cambian su forma final agregando: -S , -ES, -IES dependiendo del final de cada verbo.

RULE FOR VERB ENDINGS FOR HE/SHE/IT

• Verbs ending in – Y. Example: STUDY, FLY FLIES, (FLAIS) Pronunciation

STUDIES (STADIS) La Y final se elimina

Se reemplaza por – IES
• Verbs ending in – CH / - SH / -X / -O: WATCH WATCHES (WOCHIS) Pronunciation
FINISH FINISHES (FINIYIS)
FIX FIXES (FIKSIS) Solo agrego -ES al final
DO DOES (DAS)

• Rest of the verbs: only add -S

Example: WORK / DRIVE/ REPAIR/ ANSWER, etc + -S: WORKS, DRIVES, REPAIRS, ANSWERS

• EXCEPTION VERB TRANSFORMATION: HAVE

Cuando se habla en una oración positiva con los pronombres HE/SHE or IT, HAVE se transforma en HAS.

- NEGATIVE SENTENCES IN SIMPLE PRESENT

NAME/PERSON/PRONOUN AUXILIARY VERB IN SIMPLE
TIME REFERENCE NEGATIVE PRESENT COMPLEMENT
From Monday to I / You/ They / We Do+Not= WATCH Netflix series.
Friday, DON´T WATCH Netflix series.
(DOUNT)
He / She / It Do+ES+Not=
DOESN´T
(DASENT)

Para hacer oraciones en negativo en Presente Simple, entre la persona o pronombre personal, agrego un auxiliar
que es el verbo DO, que significa HACER, pero que aquí no tiene significado de verbo alguno porque su función es
auxiliar al verbo para agregar el negativo, por lo tanto, su significado es NO.

Example:

I DON´T do the homework at the weekend. OR She DOESN´T do the homework at the weekend.
(Yo no hago la tarea los fines de semana.) (Ella no hace la tarea los fines de semana.)

En el caso de las 3eras personas del singular, HE/SHE/IT, todas las modificaciones que sí necesito agregar final de
los verbos no se aplican en el negativo, porque el auxiliar DO suma a su trabajo los cambios – S y - ES y suma el
rasgo negativo NOT. Entonces los verbos después de DOESN´T no sufren ningún cambio.

Example: The mechanic doesn´t FIX the car on Sunday. (doesn´t fixes)

PRACTICE: Make positive sentences in PART A. Use the verbs in parenthesis.

PART A In PART B make the negative version of sentences in A

1-Every class, the student _____________ (copy) the 1-Every class, the student _____________ (not /copy) the
