A. Course Description
The course designed to make students familiarize of keyboarding without looking in order to develop skills in
speed and accuracy. It involves the application of keyboard principles and techniques in keying business
documents such as personal letters, business letters, memoranda, tables and reports that are commonly used in
at present as well as the processing of different styles and forms of business documents. These includes
spreadsheet software in preparation of financial and business reports. The course also develops the students
abilities to encode 35 words a minute with one error per minute on a 5 minute timed writing. The students
should be able to acquire the basic keyboarding skills that are necessary in the preparation of letters,
memoranda, reports and other business communication.
B. Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Develop good keyboarding skills;
2. Use safe working practices;
3. Increase accuracy and speed in keyboarding techniques;
4. Manipulate word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and digital slide presentations as well as database
management systems;
5. Demonstrate the use of communication software;
6. Exhibit ability to create documents; and
7. Recall facts about the evolution and use of technology.

1. There will be two grading periods for a regular semester, midterm period and final period.
2. Assessments will be in three forms: (a) written works such as pen-and-paper tests, (b) performance tasks such
as recitation, individual/group presentation, demonstration, etc., and (c) major exams (midterm and final).
3. For classes on a regular semester, the midterm grade shall be comprised of written works, performance tasks,
and midterm exam. The final grade on the other hand shall be comprised of accumulated written works,
accumulated performance tasks, midterm exam, and final exam.
4. Percentages for each grade component in computing the midterm and final are shown on the first table below.
The computed midterm and final percentage grades will then be re-transmuted into point-grade equivalents and
codes using the second table.

H. Class Policies
