1 Networking
Networking is the process of making connections and building relationships. Networking
is the exchange of information and ideas among people with common profession or
special interest, usually in an informal social setting.
Data communication and its elements?
Data communication is the exchange of data between two or more networked or
connected devices. It is the process of transferring data from one place to another or
between two locations. The essential elements of Data Communication are:- The
Message: information/data to be communicated (e.g. texts, numbers, pictures etc.), The
Sender: the device that sends the message(e.g. computer, video camera etc.), The
Transmitters: the device that transmit the data, and The Receiver: the person that receives
the message(e.g. computer, television etc.)
List the different types of communication media?
There are many types of communication media but based on their forms they are divided
into two. These are
1. Analog media: it uses analog signal to transmit data. It’s continuous and varying
signal. It includes radio, VCR, older Television etc.
2. Digital media: it uses digital signal to transmit data. It consists of the internet
and all digital electronics devices. The internet can be further divided into E-
mail, social media and so on, and can be used to send and receive message
instantaneously.
Describe the classification of computer networks based on geographical location/size?
Based on geographical location/size a computer network can be divided into the
following types
I. PAN (Personal Area Network): is a type of network that is smaller in
geographical size from that’s of LAN (Local Area Network). It connects
electronic devices within a user’s immediate area.
II. LAN (Local Area Network): is a computer network that interconnects computers
within a limited area such as a residence, school, laboratory, university campus, or
office building. In other word it is a collection of devices together in one location.
III. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network): is a computer network that is larger than a
single building local area network (LAN) but is located in a single geographical
area that is smaller than wide area network (WAN).
IV. WAN (Wide Area Network): is the technology that connects your office, data
center, cloud applications, and cloud storage together. It is called wide area
network because it spans beyond a single building or large campus to include
multiple locations spread across a specific geographic area, or even the world.
2.5G Network
5G is the fifth-generation wireless mobile network . It is a new global wireless standard
after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to
connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and
devices.
5G network benefits?
5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-GBPS peak data speeds, ultra-
low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a
more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved
efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries. Its productivity,
capacity, and speed surpass 4G network.
5G network issues?
Proximity (usually) dictates performance. The carriers are reworking the overall
mobile network landscape with upgrades and additional sites to support 5G.
Battery drain 5G network offers faster speeds and lower latency, but these
benefits come at the cost of higher power consumption.
Cost of this infrastructure requires a complete overhaul of existing infrastructure
this makes it a significant barrier to rural and remote places.
Security the decentralized nature of 5G networks, with more data being processed
at the edge, also opens up new points of vulnerability.
Rural and remote locations 5G network’s infrastructure is very complicated and
hard to build so it is available in some places.
