Module 5: Activity 3 – Creating a carousel view

Objective:
In this activity you will learn how to create a carousel view in Solid Edge 3D
Publishing.

Activity:
Step 1: Open a Solid Edge 3D Publishing model.

• Launch Solid Edge 3D Publishing.


• From the startup screen, click on Open.

• Browse to your class folder and select the Carousel.qsd file.


• Click Open and wait for the file to open.

Step 2: Create a third illustration.

• Select the Exploded View illustration from the storyboard.

• Notice the Exploded View appears in the 3D View on your page.


Reorient this to a Right view.
• To help clarify the parts in the 3D View window do the following:

o Select the 3D View tab.

o Click on the Edges command.

o Select Black from the color palette.

• Notice the results in the 3D View.


• Select the Illustrate tab.

• From the Illustrations ribbon group, click on New (or click on New
from the Storyboard panel)

• This will display a dialog box allowing you to name this illustration.
• Name this one, Exploded Side View, and uncheck Edit Markups
Now.

• Click OK to create the new illustration.,


• Observe your illustration.

Step 3: Create a carousel view.

• Select the Insert tab.

• Click on the Carousel command.

• Observe that the mouse cursor indicates that you are ready to drag out
the view.,
• Drag a box onto the right side of document page, as shown below.

• You will use the default settings in the Carousel dialog box. So, just
click OK.

• Notice that the carousel appears in the drawn window.


• Turn off the Edit Page command.

• Click on any of the illustrations in the carousel and notice that the
image in the 3D View changes to match the select illustration from the
carousel.
• Notice that only 2 illustrations appear in the vertical carousel. To see
the third illustration, click on the grey bar at the bottom of the carousel.

Note: Using the grey bars at the top and bottom of the carousel will
allow you to navigate through the carousel.

• Close Solid Edge 3D Publishing. You do not have to save the


document.

• This completes the activity.
