Phase 1: Infrastructure Improvement
Objective: Enhance the physical infrastructure to ensure robustness and high availability.
Sprints:
1. Sprint 1: Analysis and Market Research
o Conduct a thorough analysis of the current infrastructure.
o Identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
o Research market solutions for hardware (firewalls, switches, servers) that offer
redundancy and high availability features.
2. Sprint 2: Hardware Procurement and Installation
o Select appropriate hardware vendors based on research.
o Procure redundant and high-availability hardware components (e.g., dual
power supplies, redundant network switches, server with ample resources).
o Plan and execute the installation of new hardware.
o Document the installation process and configurations made.
3. Sprint 3: Testing and Validation
o Perform testing to ensure redundancy and high availability configurations are
functional.
o Validate the new infrastructure against predefined criteria (uptime, failover
testing, etc.).
o Address any issues or discrepancies found during testing.
o Create documentation for maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
4. Sprint 4: Infrastructure Handover
o Prepare documentation and training materials for IT staff on maintaining the
new infrastructure.
o Conduct a handover session to transfer knowledge and responsibilities.
o Evaluate the success of the infrastructure improvements based on predefined
metrics (reliability, performance improvement, etc.).
Phase 2: Virtualization and Service Deployment
Objective: Implement virtualization technologies and introduce additional services for
improved operational efficiency and security.
Sprints:
1. Sprint 5: VMware Installation and Configuration
o Install VMware ESXi as the hypervisor on the newly upgraded servers.
o Configure networking and storage within the VMware environment.
o Integrate VMware vCenter for centralized management of virtualized
infrastructure.
2. Sprint 6: Veeam Installation and Backup Solutions
o Install Veeam Backup & Replication for data protection and disaster recovery.
o Configure backup jobs for critical systems and data.
o Implement backup copy and replication jobs to ensure data redundancy and
disaster recovery preparedness.
3. Sprint 7: Implementing Advanced Veeam Features
o Set up immutable backup copies to protect against ransomware and accidental
deletion.
o Configure WAN acceleration for efficient backup and replication across
remote sites.
o Integrate Veeam Cloud Connect for off-site backups and disaster recovery
options.
4. Sprint 8: Security Enhancement with Hillstone BDS
o Deploy Hillstone Breach Detection System (BDS) for proactive security
monitoring.
o Configure BDS policies and rules for intrusion detection and prevention.
o Perform testing and validation of BDS effectiveness in detecting and
mitigating potential security breaches.
Project Completion
Final Documentation and Presentation:
o Compile a comprehensive report documenting the entire project lifecycle, from
initial analysis to final implementation.
o Prepare a presentation summarizing the project objectives, methodologies,
findings, and outcomes.
o Discuss challenges faced, lessons learned, and recommendations for future
improvements.
