The Perfect Cover Letter Checklist
Tailor your cover letter to each job you apply for
Otherwise, save your me and use a standard cover leer. Because if it isn't
relevant to that company, it may not even be read.
Do not rehash your resume
Make use of this opportunity to tell a story, persuade the readers, and form a
personal connecon.
Keep it short
One page is the maximum because it should be brief enough for someone to
read at a glance. You have to cover a lot of ground, but you should do it briefly.
By skipping the unnecessary and boring introducon, you have cut it down quite
a lot. Ask your friends, former colleagues, or mentors to review what to leave
out. This is really helpful in this case.
Convey enthusiasm
When you don’t get the job, it's usually not due to a lack of qualificaons. It’s
because people didn’t believe your story that this was the job you really wanted.
Hiring managers will shake hands with candidates who show enthusiasm for
performing their best and have a clear statement of why they want the posion.

The Perfect Cover Letter Checklist
Deliver your message in a Professional, Genuine,
and Confident tone of voice!
You don’t want your tone to undermine your message, so be professional and
mature. However, this does not imply that you must be strictly formal. Use a
friendly tone, express your passion, tell a story, and create a connecon. At the
same me, don't overdo the compliments or say anything you don't intend.
Prove yourself to be a valuable asset to the organizaon, and don't forget to
sound as if you know it's true. Even if you've been unemployed for months and
would take any job at this point, you want to avoid sounding desperate.
Finally, get feedback!
It's a good idea to share your cover leer with a few people. Be explicit about the
type of feedback you want to get the most out of their evaluaon.
In parcular, you can ask them these quesons:
Are your major points crystal clear?
Is it possible for them to summarize everything?
How do they feel about the leer's tone? What secon of the cover leer gives
them that impression?
However, be cauous about who you seek guidance from. It's preferable to seek
advice from people who have been acve in hiring/recruing recently or who are
currently in the industry and to take their advice with a grain of salt.

Checklist to Optimize
Your LinkedIn Profile
#1. Use a great profile picture and set a background photo
(High-resoluon image, clear background, posive facial expression, professional
ouit, etc.). You want your background photo to reflect your values and your
work while being authenc and professional.
#2. Get a LinkedIn custom URL
People will see it, read it, and might even have to type it, so it is important to
make it nice and neat.
#3. Let recruiters know you’re open
On your dashboard, just below your LinkedIn summary, there’s a
"Career interests" bar. Click "Off" to turn it "On" and you’re done.
#4. Create a compelling headline
Be creave and use the job tle to describe what you do, provide impressive
informaon, your great qualies, skills, achievements, and so on. If you are
familiar with the LinkedIn search engine, you'll understand that doing so helps
recruiters find you much more easily.
Don't pass up this opportunity because many companies actually use LinkedIn to
search for potenal candidates for unposted jobs.

#5. Tell your story
If your tagline describes what you do, your summary should explain why you do
it and why people can trust your abilies.
#6. Grow your network
In addion to friends, family, schoolmates, and colleagues, it is beneficial to
network with like-minded, experienced individuals and industry experts. You can
interact with others and share personal projects to build your personal brand.
#7. Ask for endorsements
These are always nice to have! Don’t be shy and start with your closest
colleagues from current and previous jobs. They are the people who you know
the best and are most likely to return the favor.
Endorse the skills you've seen them demonstrate in the workplace, and they will
be sure to reciprocate. With each person you ask, personalize your requests by
making a note of a specific project you worked on with them.
Remind them of your contribuons, and ask them to offer comments on the
project in the form of skill endorsements.
#8. Complete and optimize these sections:
Contact Information, Skills, Education, Experience
You can use the same resume ps I share to opmize these secons.
