Lesson 5: Reading Comprehension Text

A Day in the Life of a Junior Programmer

Mariana always starts her day at 8:00 AM. She lives in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, and works as a junior programmer for a
software company in the United States. Every day, she works
remotely from her home, where she easily balances her work and
personal life.
Usually, Mariana starts her morning by checking her emails and
messages from her team. Her colleagues often send her tasks
that she needs to complete. Then, she opens her coding
projects and carefully reviews the code previously written. This
helps her understand what she needs to do today.
Sometimes, Mariana attends virtual meetings with her team to
discuss project updates. She always makes sure her internet
connection works well, so she can communicate with her
colleagues smoothly. During these meetings, she usually takes
notes and asks questions when she doesn't understand
something.
In the afternoon, Mariana often takes a short break. She
frequently enjoys mate, a traditional drink that keeps her
energized and focused. Then, she continues working and
collaborating with her team. She usually writes code, tests it,
and fixes bugs. Sometimes, she needs to learn new
programming skills or tools, so she watches online tutorials and
reads documentation.
At the end of the day, Mariana carefully reviews her work to
make sure everything functions properly. She sends a summary
of her progress to her supervisor and logs off from work around
5:00 PM. In the evening, she often relaxes by reading books or
spending time with her family. Sometimes, she even goes for a
walk in the nearby park.
Mariana really enjoys working remotely. It gives her the flexibility
to work from home and spend more time with her loved ones.
Overall, she feels grateful for the opportunity she was given and
she always looks forward to growing in her career.
