DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 8

ROWENA P. BENTAYAO
Teacher’s name

MATI SCHOOL OF ARTS AND TRADES

School’s name
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key
concepts of axiomatic structure of geometry.

B. Performance Standard: The learner is able to formulate an

organized plan to handle a real-life situation and communicate
mathematical.

C. Learning Competencies: The learner illustrates the need for an

axiomatic structure of mathematical system in general and in
geometry in particular: (a)defined terms; (b) undefined terms; (c)
postulates; and (d) theorems.

At the end of 60 minutes, the students will be able to:

a) Identify and name parts of an angle.
b) Determine the measure of an angle using a protractor.
c) Illustrate different kinds of angles; acute, right and obtuse.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Angles
Concept: Identifying parts of an angle and illustrating different kinds of
angle.
References: Mathematics 8- Quarter 3, Geometry: Patterns and
Practicalities
Instructional Materials: Visual Aid
Skills: Understanding
Values: Honesty and Respect
III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Response

Preliminaries Activity
 Prayer  _______ lead the prayer.
 Greetings All: Good Morning, teacher Rowena!
 Checking Attendance : Present ma’am (when their name is
called)

A. REVIEW
The teacher will ask the students to  The student will raise a hand and
recall the topic. give short recap from the
previous topic.
B. MOTIVATIONS
The teacher will conduct activity
entitled “BRING ME”

Activity: BRING ME!  The student will show his/her

Instruction: Draw an angle with the output.
measures of 130 degrees. The first
student who will finish the task will
receive a prize.
C. LESSON PROPER

ANGLE
 An angle is formed by two non-collinear rays with a common
endpoint. The two rays are the sides of the angle. The common
endpoint of the two rays is the vertex of the angles.
Example: B

A 1 C

Look at the figure, Point A is the vertex rays AB and AC are the sides of

∠. The angle for this figure can be named ∠BAC,

the angle.

The symbol for an angle is

∠CAB, ∠A or ∠1.
Notice that when 3 capital letters are used to name an angle, the letter
representing the vertex is written between the other two letters. Notice also that a
number or a small letter written inside an angle can be used to name an angle.

There are three kinds of angles:

1. Acute Angle- An acute angle has a measure greater than 0 degrees and
less than 90 degrees.
2. Right Angle- An angle with a measure of 90 degrees.
3. Obtuse Angle- An angle with a measure greater than 90 degrees but less
than 180 degrees.
D. APPLICATION

The teacher will conduct an activity to

assess the understanding of the
students.

Directions: Determine whether each

angle are an acute, obtuse or right.
Estimate its measure and check your
estimation using a protractor.

Expected answer:
1. ACUTE ANGLE
1. 2. OBTUSE ANGLE
3. RIGHT ANGLE

2.

3.

E. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will select a student to
answer the questions. Expected answers:
 What is the topic we are  It is all about the angle.
discussing today?  The acute, obtuse and the right
 What are those 3 kinds of an angles.
angle?

IV. EVALUATION
Directions: Classify angles according to measures.
ANGLE NAME OF AN MEASURES OF CLASSIFICATIO
ANGLE THE ANGLE N

1.)

2.)

3.)

V. ASSIGNMENT

Direction: Research and advance study about the polygon.
