Materials/Resources: pen, ruler, blank papers, pencils, projector, markers, computer, speakers.

Content of summary:

What is an angle?

An angle is formed by two rays with the same endpoint. The rays are the sides of the angle. The
endpoint is the vertex of the angle. Angles are measured in degrees (°).

Angles are classified according to their measures. They are:

1. Acute angle:

An angle whose measurement is from 00 to 900 is called an acute angle.

If x is an acute angle, then x < 900

2. Right angle:
An angle whose measurement is 900 is called a Right angle.

The square symbol denotes right angle, i.e., 900

If p is a right angle, then /p = 900

The two straight lines AB and AC are called perpendicular lines. It is denoted as below:

AB │ AC

Angle between two lines which are perpendicular to each other is 900

3. Obtuse angle:

An angle whose measurement is from 900 to 1800 is called an obtuse angle.

If p is an obtuse angle, then p can be written as: 900 < p < 1800

4. Straight Angle:

A straight angle is a straight line and it measures 180 degrees.

5. Reflex Angle:

A reflex angle is an angle measuring between 180 and 360 degrees.

Procedure/Activities

Engagement

Students will watch a video titled “Angles – Types of angles Definition”. At the end of the video,
the students will be asked the following questions:

 What is the topic for today?

 Define the topic (angles) in two sentences.
 Give two types of angles they saw in the video.

Exploration

Ussing the information from the video, the students will differentiate between the different types
of angles after a treasure hunt. Four sets of coloured papers will be taped around the classroom.
Students will be placed in groups and one student from each group will be asked to search for
these papers that will have different types of angles drawn on them. Then in their groups, the
students will communicate with each other correctly identify the different types of angles found.

Explanation

Students will be asked to observe their surroundings and identify the angles that they see. This
will be done in the form of a discussion, where the teacher will help the students to make a
connection between angles and their surroundings.

Elaboration
The students will be asked to create the different types of angles in their groups using popsicle
sticks. The students will be asked to show and explain to the class the types of angles they got to
construct and also to draw it on the board.

Evaluation

A worksheet will be given to the students. They will be asked to complete the worksheet on the
different types of angles that they were taught.
