GRADE & SECTION: 10- Peace,Diligence, and Noble WEEK NUMBER: Week 3
SUBJECT TEACHER: NILMAR A. BIONG QUARTER: 1st Quarter

CONTENT STANDARD:
 At the end of Grade 10, the learners should have developed scientific, technological, and environmental literacyand can make
would lead to rational choices on issues confronting them. Having been exposed to scientific investigations related to real life
should recognize that the central feature of an investigation is that if one variable is changed (while controlling all others), the
effect of the change on another variable can be measured. The context of the investigation can be problems at the local or na
level to allow them to communicate with learners in other parts of the Philippines or even from other countries using approp
technology. The learners should demonstrate an understanding of science concepts and apply science inquiry skills in address
real-world problems through scientific investigations.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
 Demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness during earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions
 Suggest ways by which he/she can contribute to government efforts in reducing damage due to earthquakes, tsunamis, and
volcanic eruptions
FORMATION STANDARD:
 Learners realize that volcanoes and earthquakes occur in the same places in the world and
that these are related to plate boundaries. They can demonstrate ways to ensure safety and
reduce damage during earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
OBJECTIVES:
 Describe and relate the distribution of active volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and major mountain belts to
Plate Tectonic Theory
 Describe the different types of plate boundaries
 Explain the different processes that occur along the plate boundaries
 Describe the possible causes of plate movement
 Enumerate the lines of evidence that support plate movement
SUBJECT MATTER:
Lesson 1: PLATE TICTONICS

ENDURING UNDERSTANDING:
Planet Earth was consist of seven lithospheric or crustal plates.

ESSENTIAL QUESTION:
How many lithospheric or crustal plates our planet Earth have?

LESSON PROPER:
I. Daily Routine
A. Motivation:
 The teacher give students scenarios about center of the earth for them to make an article about it.

B. Interactive Discussion
1. What are these so called plates and where are they located?
2. Are all landmass and oceans on plates of their own?

C. Application:
Activity 1: Puzzle making
Objective: Students will collaboratively create and cut outs of continents and arrange them. Teacher
allow them to hypothesize about what clues that the continents used to be a single vast landmass.

Materials Needed:
• Bond Paper,Scissor, and Glue

D. Generalization
At your age, what can you contribute to lessen the impacts of natural disasters?

E. Valuing
How would you describe Earth?

II. Assignment
