CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1. HISTORY OF SIWES
The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) was
established in Nigeria in 1973 to address the problem of
Nigerian graduates lack of appropriate skills for employment in
industries. The programme is tripartite scheme , it is required to
spend some period of time usually six (6) month or less than that
working in industry of other organizations relevant to your field
of study . The tertiary institution is responsible for the
supervision of student's placement and ensuring that they are
gaining the necessary experience and skill. The employer is
responsible for providing the student with the opportunity to
learn and grow and to give them work assignment.
SIWES has been very successful in achieving it objective and
has help to improve the relationship between industry and
academia . It is now a mandatory requirement for all student in
Nigeria tertiary institution.
1.2 THE AIM AND OBJECTIVE OF SIWES
The primary aim and objective of SIWES are:
1. SIWES program helps to provide the opportunity to apply
the theoretical knowledge in real work situation and thereby
bridging the gab between theory and practical.
2. It's helps enhance student interpersonal and communication
skills by interacting with professionals and colleagues in the
field.
3. To provide student with the opportunity to apply theoretical
knowledge gained in classroom to real life.
4. To Foster the development of problem solving and critical
thinking ability through practical work assignment.
5. To access student interest and sustainability in their course
of study.
6. To facilitate the transition of student's environment to the
world of work, thereby enhancing employability.
7. It exposes student to practical industrial condition and
provision that are not available in the classroom .
1.3. RELEVANCE OF STUDENT INDUSTRIAL WORK
EXPERIENCE SCHEME (SIWES)
The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES)
offers number of benefit to student including :
1. PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE: Industrial training gives
student the opportunity to gain practical work experience in their
field of study. This experience is valuable in preparing them for
the work place after graduation.
2. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: SIWES helps student to
develop the skills and knowledge needed to successful in their
chosen carrier , for instance , they may learn about the latest
industry trend and also technologies, develop their problem
solving and critical valuable communication teamwork skills.
3. NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY: Student industrial work
experience scheme provides student with the opportunity to
network with potential employers and other professionals in their
field. This can lead to job opportunity after graduation .
4. ENHANCE EMPLOYABILITY: SIWES graduates are
more employable than graduates without SIWES. This is
because they have the practical experience and skill that
employers are looking for .
5. It exposes student to work methods a d techniques in handling
equipment and machinery that may not be available in their
institution.

2.1 INTRODUCTION OF COMPANY
BONANSOM NIG. LTD. Is a private firm that specializes
in electrical installation and maintenance, solar installation and
maintenance and partnership with 9mobile network for servicing
and maintenance of electrical and networking equipment.
The attachment lasted for 22weeks from 8th April, 2024 to
2nd September, 2024 at NO.55 Boki Road, Ogboja, Ogoja
LGA, CROSS River State.
2.2 COMPANY BACKGROUND
Bonansom Nig. Ltd.is a reputable company with a strong
presence in the electrical and solar industry at large.
2.2 MISSION
The enterprise mission is to provide efficient innovative and
cost effective solutions to it clients.

CHAPTER THREE
3.1 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASK
1. Assisting in electrical installation and maintenance .
2. Observing and learning solar installation and techniques .
3. Participating in site assessment and audit .
4. Collaborating with the team and complete project efficiently.
CHAPTER FOUR
4.1 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED
1. Practical skills in electrical installation and maintenance
2. Understanding of solar installation and maintenance
procedures
3. Familiarizing with industry standard tools and equipment
4. Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices .
5. Experience working with a team to meet project deadlines
4.2 CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
One challenge I faced was adapting to the fast paced work
environment .
SOLUTION: To overcome this, I prioritized task , managed my
time effectively and sought guidance from colleagues when
needed .

5.1 CONCLUSION
My industrial attachment at Bonansom Nig. Ltd. was a
valuable learning experience. I gained practical skills, industry
knowledge and sight into the electrical and solar sectors.
I appreciate the opportunity to have worked with such a
professional team and look forward to applying my skills in
future endeavors.
