FS1(ACTIVITY4): Classroom Management: Inspiring Practices from the Cooperating
Teachers
As an educator, a classroom management is important in creating a productive learning
environment where students can thrive. It involves setting clear rules and routines that guide
students' behavior and maintain order in the classroom. Effective classroom management ensures
that teaching time is maximized and distractions are minimized, leading to better learning
outcomes. By observing how experienced teachers manage their classrooms, aspiring educators
like myself can gain valuable insights into how to establish structure and discipline while
nurturing an engaging atmosphere for students.
During my observation of my cooperating teacher and other teachers as well, I noted
several effective rules and routines that contributed to a well-managed classroom. One routine
involved the start-of-class procedure, where students were expected to quietly take their seats,
prepare their materials, and begin a "bell ringer" activity without being prompted. Another
effective routine was the teacher's three-step system for group activities such, on the count of
one, students would stand up; on two, they would move to their groups silently; and on three,
they would immediately begin working with their groups. By this quick and orderly strategy, it
will helpful to the teachers to ensure smooth transitions and kept the students focused on their
tasks. Overall, I would rate the classroom management as effective, though some flexibility in
the questioning rule would improve student engagement.
To sum it up, observing these routines has emphasized the importance of classroom
management for future educators. By studying how the experienced teachers implement and
enforce rules, I have learned that a well-managed classroom creates a positive and holistic
learning environment. As a future educator, I recognize that effective classroom management is
not only about discipline but also about nurturing and supporting a space where students feel
supported and focused on learning. Hence, observing different management styles will help me
develop my own strategies for maintaining a balanced and orderly classroom, which is vital for
successful teaching.
